About The Undermall

Welcome to The Undermall! You are trapped in a mall where you must spot the differences to gain.... freedom? Escape? Be set free?

In this game you find yourself in front of the "Warm Subject". A nice little goth store. When you enter, study it. See what all is there, and where it's at. When you think you have it down, go through the "Green Exit" to begin. You will find yourself right back in front of the store again. BUT! this time, when you enter, something MIGHT be different. It could be a small change such as missing jewelry. It could be glaringly obvious. It might just JUMP out and scare you. OR it could be nothing. If there is any change then you go through the anomaly door (the red exit). If nothing is changed then go through the safe door (the green exit). Be careful! If you get it wrong then you're back to room 0 (which will always be a safe room for you to re study). Get it right 10 times in a row and you win.  NOTE: There will NEVER be audio only anomalies. Controls are simple. Standard WASD movement, Shift to sprint, Ctrl to crouch, Space to jump, and Right click (hold) to zoom in. I've added a fun little emote if you press the tab key. Low, Medium, High, and Ultra graphics settings. Mouse sensitivity slider. Music and SFX sliders.

There is a simple "Character Customization" platform you can enter if you wish to change the color and type of clothing you're wearing. I plan on expanding customization more in the future. There is also a "Speed Run Overlay" you can enable in the settings at any time. Let me see what you can do Speed Runners! While there are no "Easy, Medium, or Hard" settings I would consider this a "Medium" difficulty game. None of the anomalies are so small as to illicit the "How would anyone EVER notice that" but do pay close attention. I can't make it so easy that it's just a HAND out.

There is no story mode or any dialog. It just is. I MAY add a one time cut scene in the future.

✦ AI summary

Players appreciate this anomaly game as a solid experience, particularly praising the developers' decision to remove AI art. The main frustration is the lack of feedback about missed anomalies, leaving players uncertain what they failed to spot and making it difficult to improve their spotting skills.

The only thing that is very meh about it is the AI art. It's an alright anomaly game. Edit: They removed the AI art, W game. Another thing that would maybe be pretty cool imo is knowing what you missed. I keep missing anomalys and I have no idea what they are so I keep missing them non-stop.

I first heard of this game in early march via Tiktok for you page. I saw the idea and it seemed really cool, although at the time I did not have a PC, I did have a steam account. So finally As of Monday, July 13th I got my first PC. I played The Undermall! It did not disappoint at all. I am a bit late but if you're into puzzles and mild jumpscares for $4.99? This definitely gets the job done. Chris great job on this game, I know this can be whatever you dream it to be or DreamStitch it ro be. Keep going, despite the critisim or how difficult this may seem, believe in yourself. P.S. i am writing this mere moments after getting 16/40 anomalies.. they gave me a jump at 02:00 in the morning. The only input I have is maybe the option of third person as well so cosmetics could be added & that some of the future rooms have more puzzles than jumpscares, some of the anomalies are very creative! While others nearly made me piss myself. Best of luck, good stuff! -Broma

EDIT: All bugs were fixed within a few days. Very receptive dev and I'm excited for the H*bby L*bby store update! Really cool anomaly game that was very fun to play. There were some really creative anomalies as well as some scary ones. It also looks just like the recently closed Muncie mall which makes me excited for future updates. Unfortunately, the game does have a few bugs. There were at least three different anomalies which were not recognized as such and sent me back to room zero. The rooms also didn't seem to count correctly a few times and skipped a few levels. Even with that bug I was unable to finish the game due to some anomalies not being counted correctly. I think this game has a lot of potential and I hope the devs continue to work on it.
