About The Way of Life: DEFINITIVE EDITION

The Way of Life DEFINITIVE EDITION will make players live several life experiences from the point of view of three characters of different ages: an adult, an old man and a child.

The game’s strength is that every experience has a different gameplay mechanic, one that makes the player really feel the character's limits, feelings and fears in every situation. The only thing the three characters have in common is the first person view, which fully immerses the player in every character’s life.

THEMES

The Way of Life DEFINITIVE EDITION tells stories about several serious themes: from euthanasia to the death penalty, from war to love, from bullying to discrimination. Every one of them is tied to the other by the game’s main themes: personal growth and the different ways of perceiving reality.

CHARACTERS

The player chooses how to face every experience, so every playthrough can be different depending on what decisions the player takes. The characters are extremely different, both visually and control related. The child sees the world in vibrant colors, eager to explore it, while the adult has a narrower, desaturated view except for the things he really cares about. Control wise, the old man moves slowly, with a shaking camera, to simulate how an elderly person moves; while the child can run and jump freely.

CONTENT

The Way of Life DEFINITIVE EDITION will feature 10 Experiences, 30 Levels and more than 70 Significant Choices. This will let you build your own personal life experience, that will lead you to a choice-dependent ending. Can you face yourself? Do you think you'll be able to make the right decision at the right time? There’s only one way to find out, PLAY THE GAME!

Many years ago I played a free/demo version of this. I was interested in the idea of walking the same path and three different stages of life. This game was disappointing. The game is much too shallow and the moments of impact fall flat. Its miserable playing the older character because you don't have any clues for what to interact with, so when you explore it's dull because of how slow the character moves and feel like you wasting your life walking back. Not worth the price in any way what so ever

not worth 15 dollers. there are games out there that offer more gameplay and messages for a fraction of this. Also game is a priest with its preachy stuff.

In the game, you accompany a "Kid", "Adult", and "Old Man" (three generations of the same family) as they approach different topics in life, like romance, war, competition, arguments, etc. You start out in an atrium (referred to in-game as the "Hub"), where you select levels by proceeding through a marked door and selecting which of the three characters you'd like to play as. The situation plays out to some resolution and you're sent back to the Hub to select again. Each level with each character has 2-3 outcomes that you can get through playing the level in a different way. Once you complete each level once with each character, you unlock a final recap where you see a recollection of your choices (note that only the first instance is used for each character in each scenario). It's a nice little resolution to the game. The story itself is simple, yet compelling, and it has a general message of altruism and helping others which was nice to see. Similarly, the models, set design, and animations are all quite simple, but still provide an interesting little game. Notably, the music is great at setting the mood, and while it's simplistic, maintains the ambiance and artsy style. The gam…

I appreciate the developers' ambition for telling a variety of stories from the perspectives of 3 stages of life; however, the writing in this game is laughable at best and eye-rolling at worst. Most of the introductions into segments are so on-the-nose, it leaves nothing to the imagination. Additionally, lots of endings to stories will leave you scratching your head wondering what the point was of playing through every ending of every perspective. Personally, I was able to guess the moral of the lesson from the first line of dialogue for each segment because of how cliche it was. While the artwork is fine, I do not recommend anyone buying this game, even if it is on sale.

Big thumbs down for me. Probably one of the worst 'walking simulator' I ever played, and I played them all.
