Construct buildings and weapons to survive as long as you can against space invaders. There is no campaign or story here. The only mode is to survive for the entire 50 days or as long as possible. Days fly by, and there's only so much you can accomplish in a day, so each game doesn't feel like a waste of time. The first few runs will be spent understanding the mechanics and buildings. You're very much on your own out there because there's no tutorial. You basically have a grid on which you build buildings and weapons to beat off space invaders. There is some planning involved because certain buildings benefit from being surrounded by the appropriate building. There is no need to experiment because this is always visible by simply clicking on the building. Every few seconds, resources are gained automatically. Naturally, you can only obtain them if you have the necessary buildings. Alien attackers aren’t the only thing you need to worry about. There’s also discontent among people. This affects resource gathering and construction speed, and it’s something you need to live with. You begin with a small grid that can be expanded with action points that automatically renew. This is a hesitant recommendation. I had fun experimenting with The Last Commander; I love the art style and concept. However, the clunky UI and lack of tutorial or tips makes it difficult to access. The Last Commander is a cool concept - it's a tile-based base building game that involves really tight resource management integrated with real-time horde defence space battles.
