One of my absolute favorite Choice games, not super long but doesn't feel unfinished or too short, either- well-paced and fun. If you like heists, you'll like this.

I had a long rambling, review written for this game, as I did not enjoy this at all. But... I will keep this short and sweet. Thieves' Gambit is longwinded. Not in a good way, either, mind you. It rambles nearly as much as I do, and barely anything happens, even as the climax is upon you. Everything feels stilted, drawn out for maximum word count, and lifeless. I figure this is more a cash grab than an actual story that the author had been wanting to write. I do not recommend this game, at all. Try something else from the COG library. Like Heroes Rise, Choice of Robots, Choice of the Deathless, etcetc.

This had great potential, but it kinda falls flat. The Good: -You have two antagonists: a rival who is better than you and a police who is always one step ahead of you. -I liked the history of the black cat diamond, made my skin crawl. The Bad: -Not enough stressful decisions. There are two that I vividly recall, but the rest are pretty meh. -Too many characters. You can recruit up to 5 members on your team and each one makes the job that much easier. However two of them have no purpose or specialization. And with such a short story I'm not really sure what my role in this was, besides assembling the team. The story and action would have benefitted greatly by limiting your team size to 3 recruitables. All this being said I do want to play again and try out some different options. The game is the right price, but there are much better ones out there.

The Curse of the Black Cat is similar to other 'Choice of Games' content. I rate it a 3 of 5. Not nearly as good as other stories, and yet it was still interesting enough for me to be involved at least a little bit emotionally (as all games of this type require, without which emotional connection there is no interest). If you enjoy these types of games I suggest this to you. If you have not played games by 'Choice of Games' yet, I suggest you start with 'Choice of Robots' or 'the Hero' trilogy.
