Thrusty Ship is a precision-based, sci-fi themed, arcade game that is actually really fun despite it's insane difficulty. There's a huge skill ceiling but my meagre skills were able to beat the entire game (I did have to skip some levels, though). There's a lot of stuff to unlock, such as new ships with their own abilities. If you're someone who loves being a masochist and trying to 100% the most difficult games then this is the one for you.3 found this helpful
This is just a first impressions review coming from my first 2 hours of gameplay . The majority of my time with the game I did enjoy myself. I( got through the first world of the game and into a few stages from the second world. The levels are set up so that as you complete areas you learn new and more complex skills to complete higher more difficult levels. That is a great way to design the game. It avoids the need for a formal tutorial in the game. you just learn as you go and get better as you complete stages. the challenge level is high in this game however it is not unfair. when i died in the game i knew it was my lack of skills in the game that were causing my death. The UI in the game is clean and easy to use. one suggestion would be to just make the buttons larger and easy to read. in the version I played there was a slant to the look of the buttons that made them hard for me to read. Sound effects in the game are great. love the sound when the ship hits a piece of scrap and the death explosion is great. I saw that explosion quite a lot so i am glad that it is good. There is quite a lot of content in this game, I was nowhere close to doing the stages at 100%. would take som…1 found this helpful
I played this live on stream, knowing full well that my lack of coordination could only result in funny content. I was not disappointed and my community got plenty of clips I have yet to live down. Thrusty ships is a well thought-out game that lets you fly a selection of ships across a range of detailed maps- when you have enough fuel. With fuel being the rare in-game resource it is, you will often find yourself missing that all-important booster by a fraction of a centimetre, only to tumble down and explode. The challenge isn't to complete the map- it's to complete it in one life. This is a challenge I accepted. This is the challenge I set out to achieve. This is the challenge I failed many times. Worth it. Definitely worth a playthrough if you love a game that breaks the mould by providing an actual challenge- enough of one to be fun, but not so much as to make you cry (maybe). If you stream get this game if you want a lot of funny clips!1 found this helpful
I've wanted to play this game for a while, I bought it today. I just spent 2+ hours in the level-editor making an awesome labyrinth. I have only played about 5 of the World One levels because I was so eager to make a level. I love level editors and this one is easy to use and robust! Game Mechanics and performance 10/10: Fun mechanics, purposefully hard to steer. Many different mechanics that can work together to create some insane moments. Buttclencher to say the least. Level Editor is 10/10: Lets you use all in-game objects, such as warp-holes, blackholes, switches/doors, lasers, etc. No explicit max size of level area. Steam Workshop integration! FUN FACTOR: 9/10! Nothing more to say really! Overall: Recommended for anyone who likes playing around in level editors and anyone who likes HARD platforming and puzzling! TOTAL SCORE: 9/10. Because even without explicit max size when you make the level 10 times larger than the viewport it can start lagging out a bit. Don't make your own levels gigantic squared basically haha1 found this helpful
I was given a copy of this game for early review purposes. Going in to it, I had no real expectations, but I was so surprised at how much fun this could be. The levels are progressively more difficult, and I thoroughly enjoy it. The dev listens to the players and takes the feedback to improve his game. It is well made, a good challenge, and fun to boot.1 found this helpful
Summary: While not a game that will appeal to everyone, Thrusty Ship is a nostalgic indie gem packed with excellent level design & countless hours of fun and challenge. that will bring any retro gaming fan right back to video game memory lane. 9/10 A full detailed video review can be viewed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3C_-hH31c28 Gameplay: As a whole, Thrusty Ship is a game that appeals to pretty much every typing of gamer out there. For those who like to just play through the game in a more casual manner, they can. Are you a speedrunner, Thrusty Ship has you covered. Are you a completionist or achievement hunter? It has plenty of that. Thrusty Ship has something for everyone all the while offering an addictive and very enjoyable experience, a tonne of content that most games could only dream of having along with some of the best and most intelligent and complex 2D level design I have seen in a long time. Thrusty Ship is an old-school game that gives you a nostalgic trip that will bring right back to the 90s. Atmosphere: The atmosphere of Thrusty Ship is great, with it changing depending on the environment of the level you are playing. For Apex the atmosphere takes a…1 found this helpful
