✦ AI summary

Players appreciate Timber as a simple, relaxing city management sim with straightforward mechanics, but many find the execution frustrating due to clunky UI that requires excessive clicking, buggy achievements that fail to unlock despite meeting requirements, and data corruption issues causing progress loss. The game also lacks the polish and refinement expected even for an inexpensive title, with its unfinished feel and poor control responsiveness wearing thin after extended play.

I really wanted to like Timber (even though it has pretty heavy "raw", unfinished feel to it), but the more I played, the more frustrated I got. First of all, the controls are just... bad. Queueing work in the factories requires constant clicking through clunky UI elements (yes, I know about Shift-clicking, that does not help much), the "passive" income in the city is not passive at all (you are required to go back there and click on buildings regularly). All that gets old fast. Nothing feels smooth, and after a while my patience was wearing thin. And since I do care a lot about achievements, the next part drove me up the wall: some achievements simply don’t unlock, even when you meet the requirements exactly. I mean, how hard would it be to fix the buggy achievements in almost 2 years that the game has been out? But the thing that really pushed me over the edge was the save system. The saves corrupt ridiculously easily. I lost hours of progress because the game suddenly refused to load my file. No backup, no recovery, just "the save file will be deleted." We've all perhaps heard about buggy games that can crash on you (requiring the player to save often), but never have I se…

Timber is a small and simple business/city management simulation. You have plots of lands, on which you can build resource and production buildings, and a train coming on every (i think) two minutes with orders for your production. If you can complete the orders, you are awarded with money and experience (and on each level up, when your experience is enough, you are unlocking new production building). After reaching level 3, you can also use the train to visit a town, where you can sell or buy resources or build town buildings - houses, shops, hospitals, etc. They are giving you passive income. And that's everything. No research, no complicated trade, you can put your production buildings everywhere if you own the land - no need of forests for your lumbermills or stone for your queries. No electricity, no population. So yeah, pretty simple game, but i guess it still can be entertaining for an hour or two. I am selecting the "thumbs up" recommendation icon, mostly because the game isn't really bad and there is no "meh" option. Short video: https://youtu.be/ogezqUgkIUY
