Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six® Vegas

I absolutely LOVE this game on Xbox 360 and I still play it pretty regularly on there, but I can't honestly recommend the PC version unless you have some kind of nostalgic attachment to it and/or REALLY want to explore the (very sparse) selection of mods for the game. It runs like absolute crap on modern hardware. Have fun trying to run any other programs at the same time (I have 32 GB of RAM but trying to watch a youtube vid on my second screen brought my framerate below single digits). Multiplayer is still possible, but only with mods and third-party software, and there is no way to customize your character or "rank up". Frankly it is insane to me that anyone would still sell this game in this state in 2026. You are better off getting the Xbox 360 version, it runs fine and there is still a community of people who play it frequently. Oh and just in case you thought R6V2 would run better, it doesn't. It somehow runs even worse and I recommend it even less.

Rainbow Six Vegas held up very well for me. I'm a bit of a sucker for more tactical gameplay and cover-shooters, so this surely clicked for me. Story is ... there, graphics are 20yo at this point still holding up well, but the gameplay is spot on. Planning ahead and coordinating team mates is necessary, especially on higher difficulties - and very rewarding. Sometimes the AI is a bit underwhelming and a handful of difficulty-spikes kicked my ass. But visiting Vegas is still well worth a visit, even in 2026!

I didn't expect a game that released more than a decade ago would be this fun and I loved how smart the enemies AI even for normal difficulty. When the enemies know you hide in a cover, they gonna try to suppressing your last known location with controlled burst or slowly closing in by moving from one cover to another, make you feel kinda nervous if you're not constantly changing your hiding place. Fortunately our teammates AI has similar behavior, making every battle feels intense. I highly recommend playing this first before the second.

I recently bought this on sale, as I loved it as a kid on my Xbox, and it’s honestly insane how well it still holds up. The graphics are a little dated in terms of texture quality, but otherwise they still look surprisingly good. The gameplay is far superior to many modern FPS games: enemies actively try to flank you, and your squadmates are genuinely useful. The official multiplayer is dead, but there are mod-based workarounds, although I haven’t tried those myself. Lastly, the game runs like a dream on the Steam Deck. If you want a fun, fairly difficult romp with lots of weapon variety and a decent story, this game is an absolute steal.
