Touhou ~Red Empress Devil.

As much as I would like to recommend this game, I just can't. This game is basically "how little can you put into a game and still have it count as a rougelike". It's extremely short, it has no difficulty settings (and is very easy), over half of the stats don't matter at all, and all 26 characters play very similarly to each other (I couldn't get myself to play more after completing the game with 5 of them). Also, there isn't any noticeable difference between easy (1-star) and difficult (2-star) rooms except enemies, and money is basically useless because you can't tell whether a shop is a Nitori shop (buy mainly healing and occasionally items for money) or a Koakuma shop (trade health for stats) before entering. I believe that this game could have done well, but ended up being a huge letdown. I bought it thinking "it can't be that bad", but I really can't give the game much credit apart from having adorable art. Would not recommend, even if on sale.

It pains me to be critical of such a small game, but that's exactly the problem: it's a REALLY small game. It's extremely easy; I literally beat it on my first run, 10 minutes tops. I tried to do a couple other runs with different characters only to realize that those first 10 minutes of playtime were all the game had to offer. The only thing you can do without feeling like it's a waste of time is to try getting all achievements, which is pretty much just beating the game no-hit, but the game feels so slow and uneventful that it doesn't even seem to be worth my time... Not that it would take much of my time or anything, since you have access to both bombs and an invincible dash which I didn't even use in my first and only full run, so it couldn't possibly take more than a couple more tries. There is no variety in rooms or enemies, and despite the large number of characters they offer pretty much no variety in gameplay. There are exactly 4 bosses and they have extremely low health. It's not immediately clear what most of the stats do. You can't tell whether a shop is a money one or a health one before entering, and the price of the items they sell is outrageously high for how little…

Short, easy, no balance at all, every run feels the same, no story at all, this game is ass. idk, i got platinum under the 2 hours and didn't refund only because i love touhou series.

It is indeed a good game, I cannot say it isn't what it seems, although the content inside the game is lacking in every scenario with balancing clearly not being their main priority. I would NOT recommend to buy this if it isn't under a sale, but given the fact I have bought it on sale and it was fun to 100% for the time I've played I will say it was worth the price I paid and I had my fun, just as a disclaimer, do not buy this if you're expecting something difficult, it is not a hard game, neither will it take time to complete.

I really love the art style used, but the game as a whole feels abandoned considering that the names of the bosses and achievements haven't even been translated into English even after it's been more than a year after release. The difficulty is really easy, and some characters are way too overpowered. I look forward to playing more games from these developers though.
