Towers of Aghasba

This is a ambitious indie game, with a dev team of 5 people. You're going to wait a while for completion. Yes they're working on it. No its not abandoned. What's there is playable & interesting, but definitely not finished. If you want to invest in the project (EA) just keep this all in mind.

No updates in god knows how long; over a year, at least. That makes me feel like it's an abandoned project and a waste of money.

- THE GOOD Unique concept. The island is barren. Plant forests to revitalized the ecosystem in the area. The plants attract herbivores, which attract carnivores. The cycle of life leaves behind resources to gather. Use those resources to build huts, farms, and more, which attract people and open up new craftables. Go exploring to find chests, enemies, unique quests with quirky characters, and new areas to revitalize. Take your rewards back and upgrade your forests and villages. The game is clearly inspired by Zelda, particularly in the odd personalities of the characters, but the game has an identity of its own. Towers of Aghasba feels cozy, charming, and fresh. Animations are surprisingly good. Sound design is great. Music is splendid (and near constant). Combat feels better than most AA games. There's even a campaign to follow. - THE BAD It's an early access title and the team behind it had to downsize. They said they are still working on it, but there are issues that aren't going away any time soon. Movement is a little finicky when climbing cliffs or trees. Game stutters hard on startup. I have played this game on pc and on steam deck over the last few years. This game is fantastic, and it really seems like it would have a broader audience if more people knew about it. It's one of the few games that I was able to sit down and play for hours, think about it between the next gaming session, and then enjoy it more the next time I've played. The gameplay and idea really grabbed my attention. I haven't played as much in awhile as I have a lot of other games, and I prefer to play finished games, so I'm patiently waiting on that. Generally, the idea of the game is you are a character who helps rebuild their civilization, as well as the nature around the land. You develop a sort of symbiotic relationship with the world/environment as you bring it back to life. Felt a little like playing n64 zelda with combat, but newer/better. Overall fantastic game that really transports you. From what I understand, the team working on the game is smaller, so roadmap has changed, and updates are few and very long between, however they're worth it. I am waiting until 1.0 to play again, but leaving a review because the game is great as is and it deserves more positivity.

I really tried but the woke Ideolegy is just so bad. I just continued playing the game and only white dude as far as I got was a bumbling idiot and it just seems the amazing quality and effort put into this game was wasted. Im just so sick of this crap. Keep my money. Regret buying this game. Could say more but moneys gone move on.

Really awesome game. The visuals are cool, the gameplay is really fun and the combat is generally challenging. The progression feels meaningful without being the entire focus. They've gone from a small team to an even smaller team (see the steam discussions), so things have slowed down but they're still at it and the game is already worth the time but maybe wait for a sale price-wise.
