困兽TrappedBeast

困兽TrappedBeast is a surprisingly ambitious little horror game, and I liked how it mixes third person shooting with exploration and puzzle solving. I play as Detective Iver while investigating a missing girl, only to become trapped in a much more dangerous situation involving a mysterious organization. I enjoyed how the investigation gradually turns into a struggle to escape, giving the adventure a nice feeling of uncertainty. The gameplay combines shooting, melee combat and environmental puzzles, so I am not relying on a single way of dealing with every situation. Different enemies encourage me to think about which weapon is most useful, while finding ammunition and medical supplies becomes important when things start getting dangerous. I liked having to search the environment rather than simply moving from one fight to another, because it makes the areas feel more like places I actually need to investigate. The exploration also has some nice touches. I can use a map to help navigate, collect notes that reveal more of the story and search for keys or passwords that unlock new areas. "困兽TrappedBeast" is a poorly made, probably asset flipped third person zombie shooter, but at least there's a plot and some adventure game elements in this one... it doesn't come across as a hastily done kitbash for a minimum viable product store page. Of course genuine intentions alone aren't enough to make for a great game... this is really unpolished and janky. The narratives, level design and combat stuff are all amateurish and unrefined. The game assets here look a lot better than the actual game they're assembled on... that doesn't mean this is necessarily an asset flip or a kitbash, because there's no proof. But what matters is that this has all the same terrible quality as asset flips, and at the end of the day that's one of the reasons people don't like asset flips, the quality is bad. That's a problem. Let's talk about price and the value this represents for us gamers. Most "free" games on Steam aren't really free. There's usually some kind of monetisation, from nasty mobile app cash shops, or content locked behind DLC, or donations being requested, to any other number of shady pricing schemes that could mislead gamers, but in this case I'm glad to say this really…

I love the game! I can't wait to see what happens in the next 2 installments. I hope this story doesn't die off because I am intrigued to see the new characters. For a solo developer good job!
