Trash Goblin

So repetitive to the point it's not fun. It feels hollow and like something is missing. I enjoyed the demo but am very displeased with the actual game. I was really excited for it too.

Got this as part of the Humble Bundle Garbage Dwellers bundle. After playing almost 40 minutes I'm just not having fun with this game. So far there's 2 main modes of gameplay, which is chiseling out items and cleaning them. Cleaning items is OK - it functions but for me it just feels like a chore, which I wouldn't mind if anything felt rewarding but with both of these chores being the primary play the game is honestly just a work simulator. Chiseling is even worse as you'll have to do strangely complicated block removal on very small low value items early in game and it's just tedious. So- I'm sorry but this is just a full thumbs down for me. There's no exploration or trying to find items yourself. You can't even haggle with customers. The gameplay loop feels extremely flat and uninteresting. If you want a cleaning simulator I suggest House Flipper or similar as those are done much better. Also- not sure why this game is called trash goblin since you never see yourself and after almost 40 minutes in the game I've yet to see a goblin. xD Also also- your mentor is hideous and they get their own interface button- why? Just put a dialogue button so we don't have to see Baldy McPie…

Very cute, lets you get creative. Fascinating, diverse characters. But it does feel a little unfinished, and it's got a few bugs. Very little replay value.

It's a nice premise, and I like the genre of 'cozy' gaming. I'm giving this a thumbs up with the caveat that I would probably wait for a sale rather than purchase at full retail. The game has some sloppy coding issues with physics and occasionally with quest/UI elements not quite triggering properly. It wasn't enough to forestall my progression in the game but I did need to quit/reload a few times and it did leave it with a certain level of jank-feeling that was mildly disappointing especially for a title that already has a DLC chapter available, too.

It’s a cosy game with an interesting cast of characters and mini stories. The gameplay is steady because players can choose when to complete tasks which makes it great for people with busy schedules. Despite repeating the same core mechanics - chiselling, cleaning and tinkering - the gameplay doesn’t feel repetitive because the tools, trinkets and objectives vary each day and the various ways to earn money

Very satisfying and fun. Finding and cleaning the trinkets is pleasantly cathartic while the ability to mix and match trinket pieces maintains a sense of novelty and creativity. The addition of re-coloring has been really fun to explore as well. Highly recommend for my fellow neurospicy's and anyone who finds cleaning in games satisfying. Very cozy and low key but with interesting characters and storylines that keep the pace going. Just bought the DLC, and I can't wait to check it out.
