Explore abstract world where there's not much to explore. TBH I like abstract looking walking sims with some nice and unusual visuals but this one isn't very polished. Without clear goals just wander around until getting bored and finally quitting the game.
5 found this helpful
I love psychedelia, either in music, art or playing psychedelic looking games, unfortunately I was quite disappointed in TRIP: Steam Edition after experiencing it for nearly 10 hours in bite-sized chunks over the last 24 hours since I purchased it; that is, at least in its present state. As it is early access I may change my opinion as time progresses, but that will depnd on what the developer does for the game. It says the artware is an open world environment; for me that conjures up the thought that you are able to explore every part of the world you find yourself in. Sadly I found there were many places I wasn't able to explore, for example trying to get from many places via hills, you aren't able to climb anything steeper than about 45 degrees, this basically locks off loads of area of the world so far created. I tried for hours to find ways to access certain area's, but was always held back by the inability to climb anything too steep. The actual artware/game (I include game because Steam imply that its also a game when it asks the question, 'Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?') is basically an exploration game, nothing else, just wandering around loo…2 found this helpful
Some weird pointless art project nonsense. While this game has sound settings, they don't actually work, the mouse sensitivity is really high and it doesn't lock to the game window which is a huge pain if you have multiple monitors.1 found this helpful
this game is a super charming experience if you have the imagination to go along with it! the little polygonal creatures spread about the different areas varied between being unsettling and adorable. some of the areas, such as the theatre and the house with a small creature doing flips were a ton of fun to observe and try to interpret meaning from. unfortunately, i think most of the interactable bits of this game do not function. there are several small shapes spread throughout the map that are obviously meant to be collected, but the inventory feature does not work, leaving no way to collect them. it also appears that there used to be a much more extensive soundtrack, but due to the developer and music creator no longer working together, the soundtrack was removed and replaced with a singular piano melody that plays the entire time. i looked up the artist and found the original soundtrack on soundcloud, it's a bummer it was removed because it would have fit perfectly. overall, i think it's worth the 0.99 cents if you enjoy these kinds of artistic walking simulators. it seems like this was a very promising art project that unfortunately fell through before reaching its full potenti…
It's difficult to justify recommending this game to others. The only reason I know about it is because I spent the better part of a Sunday night going down the rabbit hole of what the creator of this game has made through the years. This game sort of being at the end of that metaphorical rabbit hole. The only reason I would recommend this game is because the creator Xenon/ Axel Shokk also made the famous Mario Kart map on Team Fortress 2, and that's where the novelty pretty much ends. Axel Shokk wiped his websites and socials off the internet, leaving this behind as an odd piece of an already obscure legacy. I can't say that the game itself is particularly special or impactful. I can hardly remember its name, recalling it as prism or prison while writing this. Just as Bart could tell the moment Lisa broke Ralph's heart, you can tell the moment Axel lost passion for this game as you progress through the different worlds. They get smaller and smaller, filled with less and less as a soundtrack of someone messing around on a digital piano fades in and out as you walk. The screenshots in the community tab manage to make the game look prettier than it actually is at times. Which I suppos…
