About Turbo Kid
A BMX-powered pixel-art Metroidvania gore-fest based on the film Turbo Kid.
You play as a lone warrior on a quest to cross a Wasteland riddled with scoundrels and creeps who you'll have to go through - literally - in order to survive.
Run, crawl, jump, hang, and, for the very first time in a Metroidvania (don’t research this), bike your way through the world! Ladies and gentlemen, we give you the height of human-powered transport technology: the all-terrain Bike!
Your trusty BMX is one touch of a button away at any time. Move around the map faster, access new areas, launch it at enemies, and perform sick bike tricks to gain bonuses.
Hack and slash your enemies with the obligatory machete or shoot them with the Kid’s choc-full-of-mayhem Turbo Glove™. Turbo Blast, Electric Shocks, circular saws… use the array of weapons at your disposal to slash, rip apart, or explode enemies into hysterical and over-the-top splashes of gore!
Our story begins immediately after the movie ends. On your journey, you will meet weirdos and oddballs, some friends, some foes, and some in-between, who will offer advice, quests, fights, and jokes (lots of jokes) in a heartfelt and hysterical story created in collaboration with the filmmakers behind the movie.
Explore the different zones and defeat bosses in the order you see fit, make choices that will affect the course of the story, allowing for multiple playthroughs with different paths and outcomes.
If you don’t care about the story and you’re only in it for the gameplay (speedrun afficionados, we’re looking at you), all the dialogue is skippable.
Many cutscenes can simply be ignored if you don't wish to interact with them.

So you are telling me they made a game about that obscure 2015 underrated movie "Turbo Kid"? Kickass! This gotta be one of the most interesting metroidvanias out there for sure. The music, the gameplay, the aesthetic and the story. Too bad we are never getting a sequel for the film apparently, that would've been awesome, but hey maybe we can get another game? Maybe yes? 4.5/5
Absolutely incredible game. It makes me mad that not many people have played and that it has gone mostly ignored. More people need to play this. A Metroidvania platformer meets a Trials style game. Great visuals, great soundtrack, incredible gameplay.
Quite interesting and very entertaining, good gameplay. Average dificulty, not particularly punishing. Also recommend the movie.
HELL YES
Pretty fun MetroidVania that is nearly as fun as the film it's based on. The only thing that may give some players pause is that once you get to the sewer sections, the difficulty spikes quite a bit. ♥♥♥♥ those flies!
It's almost a recommend, but it feels ill-concieved in a few major areas, notably the level design, signposting and player guidance, and the way saves are handled and placed. Level design is a bit too maze-like, feels like the only way they knew how to introduce variety was making a bunch of areas that collapse in on each other interspersed with places that you are forced to crawl, slowly, through. Very tedious and boring. Too maze-like, areas that are too big at other times. Secrets aren't interesting to find, and many things that seem to be bigger secrets just lead to currency boxes. The door switch mechanic isn't fun. It's not a mentally engaging puzzle, it's tedious busy work. Sorry devs. Spent a lot of my 4 hours after the initial railroaded section just kind of confusedly exploring. Lots of areas that lead to nowhere. It's not exactly clear what is the critical path or not. This isn't the worst thing in a Metroidvania, but fast travel is only available at certain locations and you can't warp there from anywhere, you have to be at a fast travel spot. Metroidvania devs, please stop doing this, let me warp to fast travel from anywhere at any time, it's such a waste of time. …
