Turmoil is a charming oil tycoon simulator where you lease land, build drilling rigs, and pipe networks to strike it rich during the 19th century oil rush. Outbid rivals for territory, time your sales perfectly, upgrade your operations, and become mayor by acquiring the most town shares in a tongue-in-cheek economic strategy that blends resource management with competitive multiplayer chaos.
Lease land at the town auction and search for oil. Build a rig, create an efficient pipe network and bring up the oil to store it in silos. Sell the oil at the best times to maximize profits. Then buy essential upgrades in town to cope with rock, gas and ice. Acquire more town shares than your competitors in a bid to become the new mayor.

idle game if u want it to be, or minmaxing game if u only run it in max speed playthroughs. Either way, super fun.
I really like the concept, felt like a board game framework around a RNG puzzle game. Giving it a tentative thumbs up for trying something interesting. That said, there's a pretty insane UI oversight in how easy it is to misclick and close a pipe, which costs money to do, and then more money to reopen. The rest of the UI is pretty good, but you have to be vigilant about that. Another gripe is that the campaign is too long for what you're actually doing. Each biome gives some new options, but if you're doing well you unlock them immediately and then just play the same minigame a few too many times in a row with no meaningful escalation. This is clearly meant to even out the fact that the maps RNG is unbalanced, especially in the 4th biome where you essentially win or lose depending on how close gas is to other things. So I can't imagine actually playing this seriously in async multiplayer. The bidding on victory points between rounds is the highlight of the game for me. It's well-executed and the bots play it competently, one of them even pulled off crazy play to snag the win in my Expert Mode game which I thought I had locked down. Gotta respect that.

I'm just really interested in oil, and the current geopolitical conflict in the Strait of Hormuz makes playing this game even more interesting and useful.
