About Turnip Mountain

Turnip Mountain is a physics-based climbing adventure built around a unique control system: each hand is controlled independently.
Play with two mice, one for each hand, to enjoy a natural and satisfying climbing experience - or use a gamepad to control each arm with a different analogue stick. Master your momentum as you grip walls, swing from ropes, launch yourself across gaps and discover your own route to the summit. Every move depends on your skill, making every successful climb its own reward.

Key Features

  • A truly unique control system: Play with two mice at once, with each mouse controlling one hand independently, or use a gamepad with dual-stick controls.
  • Physics-based climbing: Grab, swing, push and build momentum to overcome obstacles and reach new heights.
  • Local co-op mode:Share the challenge with a friend, with each player controlling just one arm. Use two controllers or 1 controller and a mouse - you choose!
  • Multiple paths to the summit: Experiment with different routes, discover shortcuts and find your own way up the mountain for greater replayability.
  • Unlock cosmetic items: Collect colour palettes to completely change the visual appearance of your climber. Or collect coins to don some fancy headwear!
  • Bop to the top with a pitch-perfect soundtrack by IsabelleChiming!

Pretty cool! Glad to see another climbing game, and this one's a little different. As with many of these, controls take a little practice (particularly the two-stick jumps), but then it's good fun. And yet one question remains: why doesn't the turnip gain an option for visibly muscular arms with all this climbing

A fun and short platformer with a unique movement system that’s satisfying to master. Level design is solid, with new gimmicks frequently added and mashed up with each other.

It's a platformer with some quite unconventional-yet-natural inputs. It plays well on the Steamdeck! The mechanics unique to each level keeps the experience fresh from start to finish. There is some difficulty on the controls that can send you tumbling back to the beginning of a screen, but there's frequent checkpoints as each screen is of reasonable size. Collecting the palettes is really fun, but for the unique skins one of the first I got was the one with the silly smile and that was my favorite as most of the others are mainly hats; I think it'd have been nice if more of the skins gave our turnip a silly face.

I was very surprised how well this game controlled. I went in somewhat expecting a deliberately frustrating Fodian style game, but instead I found a genuinely well designed and uniquely controlled platform game. In the short time I had with the game it was challenging, but never unfair. Also the art and music were top notch!

Short and sweet game that was essentially exactly what I wanted from the mechanics of "A Difficult Game About Climbing". The controls feel nice and smooth, although doing jumps in any different direction than up is quite janky and inconsistent. It was a really fun time to go through it, although it didn't wow me. The mechanics are basic, and it lacks any kind of new surprising or interesting twists. Just the basics really nicely executed. I think for me it lacked that last piece of gameplay narrative. Where it flips the mechanics on it's head, maybe make the player only be able to use one arm for a whole level, the turnip could lose it or something, and then regain it. But maybe this time one arm is overtly long or something. Just honestly any kind of extra spice would've put it into an easy 5/5 for me. I loved the presentation and even though the soundtrack is one note it's extremely charming. I appreciate the options with all the color palettes but I think the dev nailed it with the B&W aesthetic and I never wanted to switch off it. Easy recommend for climbing or platforming game fans. But it's not anywhere close to the best of the best.
