Under Par Golf Architect

Very Shallow. Design can be maximized very easily based on some pretty small parameters. The simcity 2000 demo I played 26 years ago had more going on for it.

A strong candidate as a fill-in for Sim Golf, which I loved and still miss. The levels were fairly easy to max out with 3 stars, not that I'm complaining. I'm at the stage of my gaming life where I play for relaxation and enjoyment, not for facing overly frustrating challenges. The only time I felt really challenged was with the dealing with the loss of income from volcano/earthquake damage in one of the DLC levels. I completed the main game levels and DLC levels in under 68 play hours, and was a little surprised when I reached the end so quickly. I'll mess around a little in the sandbox now, but I would really like to see a bunch more DLC levels and updates soon. Thank you, and keep up the good work Broken Arm Games.

So if you grew up in the 90's and played Sims Golf. Then yeah this is the game for you for nostalgia. Streamed a few days of it and was fun to build. 100% Achievements it as well. Was a fab game. Not sure if I will get the DLC it is only accessories and... just one new sand tile from the looks of it.

In short, this is a really great game and you should get it. In my opinion, there are two ways of playing these types of games. You can play to win, where you just try to figure out the mechanics and get all the stars, unlock all the things, and complete all the levels. The other way is more like role playing. Designing courses that you like, that are beautiful, and you enjoy playing on, etc. This is currently where the game shines, but there can be improvements to both. On one hand, the raw difficulty is not high. You can game the system and make A+ holes without much actual design. This could be improved with incentives to make difficult or unique holes, and more difficult economy balances. On the other hand, the actual golf mini game is not all that engaging. It's just too simple. I can't make any specific recommendations here, but we maybe need some more randomness to how your shot falls, maybe make the mini game a little more difficult and also rewarding. I do like the idea of having a bird's-eye view that you can play from and have your character kind of play like the AI with your shot guidance, similar to the original game's idea.
