About UnEpic
You play as Daniel, a gamer mysteriously transported into an RPG world where a malevolent shadow inhabits your body and wants you dead, forcing you to battle through 200 castle rooms to defeat the master Harnakon and uncover the truth behind your predicament. With 70 spells, 100 weapons, 7 bosses, multiple endings, and over 2000 lines of witty dialogue packed with pop-culture references, this 2D platformer RPG delivers a darkly comedic adventure that constantly subverts your expectations.
Once inside the castle, Daniel is inhabited by a mysterious shadow. This dark spirit can communicate with Daniel, but not control him. The shadow has a simple goal: to escape from the prison of Daniel's body. There's a catch, though-- the dark spirit can only escape if Daniel perishes.
Struggling against enemies in the castle, with the dark spirit attempting to murder him at every turn. Daniel finally discovers his goal: to kill Harnakon, the master of the castle, and free the Pure-Spirits who are trapped within. While the stage seems set for a typical role-playing adventure, Daniel will soon discover that everything is not what it seems...

The small character sprites and less-than-agile movement give this game an old-school feel, like Dark Castle or Prince of Persia or something. That's not a bad thing, though. The controls are fine! I really like that the RPG systems are more complex than the typical Metroidvania. Your character has approximately 15 different skills to raise. There are different melee weapons with their own benefits and drawbacks. There are quite a few magic spells. Making potions is cool, and potions and consumables are very handy. I'm playing on hard mode, and so far it isn't too difficult. It's definitely possible to die, and cautious play is rewarded. There is also a map editor and a whole online co-op mode. The main game is a good length, but you can also play custom maps, which are like their own miniature campaigns. And there are some pretty cool ones in the Steam workshop. All around great game! Some of the jokes are a little sexist and have aged badly, though.1 found this helpful
I only played the single player campaign annnd it's fine. It feels like a game trapped in the 90s for better or worse. The sole positive and reason you could have to play this over another similar game is that it has a bulky, classic rpg system where you have a plethora of skills, items, spells, etc that you can spec into to create a character build. It's interesting because you need melee and ranged, slash and blunt dmg, fire and ice dmg, armor or robes to empower your playstyle of choice, etc and you don't have enough points to cover everything, so you're forced to also invest into cheaper, lesser but necessary skills/items. That gets you thinking into how you solve your lack of X thing and that simultaneously draws you into adventuring like the game intended. Then there's the rest of the game which is just mid or ok at best. Movement is clunky but not to the point of feeling cheap. Platforming is basic and repetitive but not frustrating. Combat is also clunky but somewhat challenging. There are traps, both literal as in arrows protruding from the ground and indirect as in "hey you fell down a hole into a room full of enemies, now you'll die". The music is... there. Art too is…
great
Juegazo de un desarrollador independiente español, si te criaste en los 90 este juego te va a traer muchos recuerdos y humor de nuestra época. Un RPG de una aventura épica en 2D
My favorite Metroidvania game. 10/10. Highly recommended!
In a word, wonderful. I couldn't give a break while playing. Just wonderful.
