Even though I only played for 36 minutes, I could see the potential in this game. The controls feel quite fine on PC (though I’ve heard they are worse on consoles). The difficulty is in a strange place: it isn’t hard enough to feel like a real challenge, but it also isn’t easy to complete on a first attempt. My main issue is the lack of direction. Combined with the absence of checkpoints and the game’s speed, mistakes feel overly punishing and end up hurting the overall enjoyment. There are also some mechanical frustrations. You jump with “Z” and use the cape with “X.” Individually these work fine, but if you jump and then try to use the cape, it usually just leads to death and a full loss of progress. It feels unintuitive rather than challenging. I’m not a professional platformer or Kaizo player, but the design often made me feel overwhelmed. I tend to jump even when it’s unnecessary (which some platformers actually reward), yet here it’s heavily punished. I still want to give the game another try and hopefully finish it later, but right now the mechanics feel more frustrating than difficult.

Please fix: - Controllers (buttons are mixed up — using an Xbox Series controller here). - Menus (strange behavior). - Data tracking (jumps and deaths are all zeroed by the end of the game). This would turn a good — though very short — platformer into a very good, or even a great one.

Yeah, the PS5 controller isn't supported and you can't map controls, so it's not possible to play that way. However, the game itself looks good and nice music here (I played through a couple of training levels before I got the first ability that I can't find a button for) and price is just low for those looking for a nostalgic GB/NES experience.

It's like 1001 Spikes except fun and not just CBT, in the sense that you have to use the correct one of your two jumps at the right time. Menu controls are bad which is like, how? But game fun! :3
