Until Dawn™ is a narrative-driven horror game with an engaging branching story that players appreciate, but the PC port suffers from significant technical issues including shader compilation crashes and performance problems that make it difficult to complete. Most players recommend waiting for a deep sale and only then if you have a powerful machine capable of handling its demanding optimization, as the game's quality experience is heavily dependent on stable performance.
Unfortunately, the game isn't even close to playable. Crashes while compiling shaders or after some cutscenes like the first psychologist visit. I didn't even reach chapter two before giving up. I have played this game last year on a friend's pc, and it ran pretty well. My pc should be easily able to run this, so the issue is most likely with the game, not my hardware. I have 100 minutes "played" but I think around 30 of those are waiting for the game to load or this clock still ticking while the game itself was already closed. I've tried the fix of forcing to run this in directx11 mode, updating GPU drivers, running as administrator, verifying game files, re-installing the game.. I've been a pc gamer for as long as I can remember, and troubleshooting is part of the experience. But the horror of this game should come from the tension and jumpscares in-game, not a random error message or my desktop suddenly appearing because the game crashed again. For the closest experience to this that actually is playable, I can recommend The Quarry. I'll be replaying that game this october, while I'm waiting for my refund request for Until Dawn to hopefully be approved.2 found this helpful

when i played this back in 2016 i fell in love with this type of genre that i didn't know existed so thank you until dawn. so for it to be back with a few changes i don't mind it at all in fact i love it.1 found this helpful
