Uptime: A Cloud Provider Sim

Uptime is an incredibly deep game that has completely pulled me in. The basic concept is simple, but you can make things as complex as you want. This freedom and the depth of its mechanics are the game’s greatest strengths. The learning curve is quite steep, especially if you have no previous knowledge of networking. It would be helpful if the game provided new players with more information about what the different products and features do and when they are needed. At the moment, it feels like you can find better help online than within the game itself. The 3D graphics do not feel particularly polished yet, but that does not bother me because the gameplay is so good. In fact, I think I would enjoy this type of game even without any 3D graphics at all. It could work entirely through its user interface. I like the visual style of the UI, and the management panels are very comprehensive. However, some menus and features could be arranged more logically. I would also love the ability to copy entire rack configurations using some kind of blueprint system. Building every new rack manually becomes very tedious once the operation starts scaling up. This is a Great Game, you can tell the coding and ground work was done correctly. Game is good to play now, and just added a massive new Location today. Daily updates and a very detailed Simulation. I do not work in this Industry but I did stay at a Holiday Inn and I think this game has what most other Simulation games miss (Depth).

Interesting game. Effectively as it currently stands, the gameplay is fairly bland. You buy stuff and connect wires in order to get money to do the same again and again. Especially at the start, the money flow isn't spectacular, and you have to move location in order to get a quick cash injection. Other than that, I've spent a full work week playing. The requirements for specific customers adds a layer of complexity, such as requiring a mainframe or RISKV host. I found a lot of my enjoyment came from orginising racks, reorganising, rebuilding. Currently in early access, there is mainly one or two end goals. The final release looks to expand this. My main concern is a lot of systems are not accurate or seem half-baked. Cab neetness sounds good, but if you're pulling the cables into the cable management channels and it looks neat, you still have bad neatness score. Networking makes little sense. You can't segragate networks with VLANs (isolation) and let routers route the traffic over their ports. It needs a little more work. First review written at 6 hours, this one is 23 hours, all I've done is remove bad points which were fixed in a patch within 24 hours, I'd say I have already gotten the cash value out of this game and for an early access title only released in July, There is a lot of good. ============== WHAT IS THIS GAME ============== Grow from tiny hobby SMB hosting provider to genuine oh my goodness size data centre. You won't get the full complexity of actually running an AWS availability zone but the game combines enough depth with simplicity to get you close. ============== BAD ============== A lot of the text feels translated or written by GenAI - "It's not X it's Y" and very unnatural flow, It is also far too verbose which you could say is accurate to life but the console window in the bottom right just gets flooded with huge walls of text, or trying to read through the UI. Cannot label bought boxes or hardware so I cannot have things on a shelf or in a spare rack just in case, I'd need it turned on and checking the console port to see a name.
