About Valor & Victory

Valor & Victory is a fast-playing, easy to learn World War II squad-level game system. Based on the original Valor & Victory board game, the digital edition provides you with an accessible and deep challenge, developed for classic tabletop game lovers.
With 19 scenarios based around real events shortly after the Normandy Landings in 1944, the game challenges you to achieve different objectives: eliminate the enemy, capture objectives, or exit certain units off the map. And with the new random scenario generator, mission setups and objectives can be endless.
Additional DLC's are also available allowing for new armies and battles to be played, including the battle for Stalingrad, with other DLC's being continuously released.

Valor & Victory is a complete WWII wargaming system, covering infantry and armored combat, close assaults, armored overruns, fortifications, and much more.

COMMAND, FIRE, MOVE, DEFEND, ADVANCE. REPEAT

Just like the original board game, each turn is divided into phases:
• Command: Automatically rally your troops, split or merge your squads and exchange weapons. In the command phase, you lay the foundations for a successful turn.
• Fire: Check your line of sight and firepower and prepare to set the battlefield on fire. If you have any eligible weapon, you can fire smoke instead of attacking and gain extra protection for your units.
• Move: Move any of your units that did not attack during the previous phase and try not to be taken by surprise: hostile opportunity fire may be just around the corner.
• Enemy Defense: Be ready to defend your squad. Enemies that did not opportunity fire will have their last chance to harm your units.
• Advance: Advance any of your units by one hex or conduct a close assault with your infantry forces.
You will roll the dice to determine the combat results, but your luck is in your hands: wise use of terrain, covers, leaders, hindrance and many more modifiers will greatly improve your chances of success.
You also have the ability to customise your missions by altering the difficulty level, the number of game turns, or choosing whether Fog of War is on or not.

MULTIPLAYER SUPPORT

Valor & Victory comes with full multiplayer support: challenge your friends in 1v1 multiplayer matches over PBEM and hotseat. If you’re looking to test your skills, sign up for official tournaments and climb the leaderboard as well.

SCENARIO EDITOR

An extremely intuitive built-in scenario editor allows you to build and play your own scenarios either against the AI or against your friends. Pick a map, set the objective, choose the factions, place units and defenses where you prefer. Add details and customize your rules: decide the number of turns, the weather conditions, and the starting team. The scenario editor gives you all the tools to create custom, unlimited different challenges. Steam Workshop functionality allows you to share your creations or to upload other players missions they have created.

Game claims I don't own it. Not sure when this happened, but at some point the game will launch and no longer let me play. Seems ♥♥♥♥♥♥.

Not a bad game if you are looking for something that is similar to the old Squad Leader series. There are some bugs here and there but what bothers me the most is when you have fog of war enabled, how in the you know what is the AI able to see through that and know where your AT is? It always knows, but shouldn't through fog of war.

I like ASL so this is not bad for a simple game

I played ASL at tournament level back in the day, and this game reminds me a lot of it. Comments about RNG that I've seen are fair -- obviously, ASL is RNG dependent too, but you feel like you're doing something when you roll the bones manually. Scenario variety seems good, if a bit Eastern Front heavy -- I like the Pacific DLC and am glad to see the game showing off more than the usual nations. I'd love to see a Winter War DLC (the Finns have always been my favorite ASL nationality to play) and a desert version as well. This game has the potential to address the small-unit niche in the hobby quite well. There are a lot of games that try (L&L, I'm looking at you) but some do it better than others.

I've only played a few scenarios so far but I like it, it's fun to play and I think it can serve as a good introduction to how tabletop hex-and-counter games work (i.e. as a series of phases). I've played other similar games on Steam like Arete and Mare Nostrum and they got me excited to play the tabletop equivalents. I *would* say this game is probably going to be more (mostly?) of interest to people who are specifically looking for that tabletop-style way of doing things, so if you're a casual gamer who has never played a wargame before, while you could definitely start with this, you might prefer something more-accessible like Company of Heroes instead. I am very interested in exploring what hex-and-counter tabletop wargames have to offer, so a game like this is a great way for me to get more comfortable with how they do things.

This is a solid game when I just want to relax. There are ongoing tournaments on the matrix games sight that you can sign up for. Yes, it is simplistic so a general decription of ASLite is appropriate. I defintely feel I got my money's worth.
