About Vanishing Realms™

Vanishing Realms: Rite of Steel is an immersive Role Playing Game designed from the ground up for Virtual Reality play. Use one-to-one motion controls and movement so that you are fully in control of combat. To swing, duck and block, you don't hit a button, but physically move to perform these actions as if you were there - because you are!

Treasure chests, weapon shops, a horde of undead foes, mystic writings, banished gods, lost artifacts, ancient tombs and moonlit forest - it's all here waiting to be discovered in a beautifully hand-crafted VR realm.
  • Battle life-sized monsters in stunning, face-to-face melee and magical combat. Hold weapons directly in your hands, learn to block enemy strikes, seek openings in their armor and defenses and strike back. The longer you play Vanishing Realms, the more you'll hone your physical skills. You'll take on more powerful and advanced enemies as you move deeper into the world.
  • Explore, Discover, Collect, Solve, Play. Directly interact and move freely through a rich and varied fantasy world. Vanishing Realms combines the long tradition of hand-crafted game design with the intuitive and immersive experiences made possible through Virtual Reality and hand-held tracked controllers.
  • Surround yourself with Adventure. Pause to take in the moonlit vista before you. Rest beneath a gnarled apple tree - it's good to see the night sky again. How long have you been fighting and exploring in this place? Rummage in your backpack, take a few bites of bread and cheese, drink a healing draught, think of all you've seen and...is something moving over there...on the tree line, beyond the rock outcropping?

✦ AI summary

Players praise this VR adventure for delivering genuine immersive puzzle-solving and storytelling that captures the essence of a proper Zelda experience, with a charming art style that holds up well despite its age. However, complaints focus on dated control schemes and UI design—particularly uncomfortable belt-based menus, the lack of smooth turning options, and overall control feel that veterans find clunky compared to modern VR standards, making it feel more suited to early VR adoption than current expectations.

This feels like a proper zelda game in vr. Pros: - The puzzle gameplay and storytelling is very immersive and vr forward. Cons: - As an older VR title, the controls feel a bit dated at this point. Smooth locomotion is available but the teleportation implementation feels like the Note: I think most of my play time was done on another account so my reported playtime is lower than it actually is.

Vanishing Realms, developed and published by Indimo Labs LLC, is a virtual reality action RPG that prioritizes immersion above all else, crafting an experience that feels grounded in physical presence rather than traditional game abstraction. Instead of relying on complex menus or layered systems, it places players directly inside a fantasy world and asks them to interact with it in a tangible, almost instinctive way. The result is a game that may appear modest in scope, but consistently delivers moments that feel personal and immediate in a way few non-VR titles can replicate. The game unfolds across a series of interconnected environments—ruined castles, shadowy dungeons, and forested paths—presented as a loosely structured journey rather than a heavily narrative-driven adventure. Story elements exist, but they are intentionally minimal, conveyed through environmental details and brief encounters rather than extensive dialogue or cutscenes. This understated approach works in the game’s favor, allowing exploration to take center stage. Each area feels deliberately designed to reward curiosity, with hidden items, branching paths, and subtle worldbuilding that encourages players to…

I only tried it for a few minutes but I couldn't get into it. E.g. the belt shows health and stuff but it's so far down that I can hardly see it without doing a cartwheel and it doesn't matter whether I'm sitting or standing. The controls just feel off and I've got a thousand hours or two in VR so I know a trick or two. Refunded.

For an older title with some dated looking graphics it still holds up thanks to the art style. I had a lot of fun with it after about 3 hours and there is still a chapter to go. The only thing missing is smooth turning. I didn't mind the snap turning after a few minutes playing. If you are looking at this and thinking it's too old, just give it a shot. I'm definitely going to finish this one.

Visually delightful art style. Couldn’t see a smooth turn option but there is smooth transversal. You do get used to the snap turning. If you like the aesthetic then Karnage is a must own. Takes everything to the next level!
