✦ AI summary

Players appreciate Void Eclipse's ambitious hybrid design combining tactical card combat with galactic strategy, but the game is severely hampered by frequent crashes that can occur mid-mission, alongside numerous smaller bugs like visual glitches, dialogue repetition, and UI issues that collectively undermine the experience. The writing and tutorial lack engagement, the AI is clunky, and overall polish is significantly lacking for a game that doesn't allow mid-mission saves, making it difficult to recommend in its current state.

If game does not allow save during mission it should be very stable. This is not the case of this game. I am getting both consistent (repeatable) and random crashes preventing to finish first mission after tutorial. Not recommended before fix.

I really want to like this game. Its got all the features and content that I want in the game its just TOO buggy. Small ghost images left after card actions. Random camera centering that makes the ships hard to maneuver. Dialogue repeating. Each of them is fairly small but it leads me to the feeling of the homer Simpson meme, and those clips are holding up a beautiful game that's falling apart.

Void Eclipse is an ambitious hybrid strategy game that tries to bridge the gap between tactical, turn-based combat and broader galactic decision-making. Developed and published by Tau Ceti Studios, it places players in the role of an android commander navigating a fractured sci-fi universe threatened by a spreading nanotechnological menace. The game’s core appeal lies in its attempt to combine personal, character-driven storytelling with large-scale strategic choices, creating an experience that feels both intimate and expansive—at least in concept. The structure of the game operates on two interconnected layers. On one side, there is a galaxy map where players explore star systems, interact with factions, and make decisions that influence relationships and outcomes. This layer carries the tone of a simplified 4X strategy game, offering elements of diplomacy, movement, and resource consideration. However, it functions more as a connective framework than a deeply developed system. While it provides context and progression, it lacks the complexity and nuance expected from more dedicated strategy titles, which can make it feel underwhelming once its basic mechanics are understood. Normally I'd try to give a game a little more time, but I'm just *bored*. The tutorial has no real spark (not that I expect a tutorial to be thrilling, but it could have a bit of pizazz), the writing could use a tiny bit of editing, and I couldn't even get past the first mission of the tutorial without a soft-lock and having to restart. Not to mention the profile pictures, when selecting them, were well beyond the actual resolution of the pictures, making them fuzzy and vague. I think that works pretty well as a description - fuzzy and vague. Toss in bland, and you've got my review. I wish it was't so, I'd love to support an indie, but yikes.

Decent premise and ideas for an indie but hampered by truly terribly clunky AI. Can't recommend.

Void Eclipse is a turn-based card battler in a sci-fi setting. It has some light grand strategy elements that are mostly centered around acquiring resources to buy cards and abilities. 4x this is not, but it adds a unique dimension to an otherwise standard tactical card game.
