Flashing lights are crazy exagerated in this shoot 'em up, probably dangerous if you're the least bit photosensitive, but also dazzling to look at. Basic graphics with big pixels like Space Invaders but more colorful with bright rainbow colors. Looks like fireworks sometimes. Appropriate techno party music pumps up the excitement. No problem with gamepad controls although it's annoying when the enemies faster than yourself crash into you and when some shots just can't be dodged in the later levels. Level 22 is near impossible. It was even acknowledged by the developer as way too hard and poorly balanced in the Steam discussions. Poorly balanced for many levels even. Not recommended because of the flashing lights and difficulty peaks. Not worth the risk for one to two hours of playtime. That being written, I managed to beat level mode at normal difficulty.

Void Invaders feels like a bare-bones Space Invaders clone with a neon filter slapped on top. The difficulty spikes aren’t satisfying, they’re cheap, with enemies and patterns that overwhelm you more by design than skill. There’s little innovation or depth to keep things interesting beyond a few runs. Unless you’re desperate for a budget arcade shooter, this one is easy to skip.

Void Invaders developed by VoidDev and published by Plug In Digital is a vibrant arcade-style space shooter that deliberately channels the spirit of classic coin-op eras while layering in modern presentation and progression systems. From the outset, the game makes its identity clear: this is a fast, reflex-driven experience built around tight controls, escalating waves of alien enemies, and the simple thrill of surviving long enough to post a higher score. Rather than reinventing the genre, it refines and celebrates it, offering players a polished homage to the golden age of arcade shooters. The core gameplay revolves around piloting a nimble spacecraft across horizontally scrolling battlefields filled with colorful enemy formations. Waves of alien ships descend in patterned movements, firing projectiles that quickly saturate the screen. Success depends on precise movement, situational awareness, and quick reactions. The controls are responsive and intuitive, whether played via keyboard or controller, allowing players to weave through bullet patterns and reposition strategically without feeling constrained. As levels progress, the density of enemy attacks increases, gradually tran…
