*You cannot hold down the button to shoot *You cannot move up and down *From what I saw, the primary weapon basically never changes. *If you turn off the game you lose all progress. I understand that "feel" you are going for but some people like accessibility options

Space Invaders inspired action.

"Zeroptian Invasion" (2018) is a neat little game which is obviously inspired by the classic shoot 'em up arcade game "Space Invaders" (1978). It isn't simply copying that game though. It features unique sprites, unique mechanics which change depending on what level you are on and unique bosses. And most importantly: This game has really good music. I haven't heard a single soundtrack in this game which I disliked. You always start a run with 2 lives, but you can get bonus-lives during your runs. One important thing to note is that you won't start the game over entirely if you game over, instead you will start over at the beginning of the section you died in. Each section of this game is divided into 3 levels + an "R" Stage at the beginning of each section except for the first one with one boss at the end of each section. You know that you have beaten a section after you have unlocked a new colour. If I didn't miscount there are around 19 or 20 levels + the 5 "R" stages. "R" levels are really short levels where rows of enemies come flying at you in certain patterns, you don't need to destroy them though. I had this game on my radar for some time, but was reluctant to push the button as I am quite particular about this genre (being in the age group where most of my life was spent at the local arcade). My mind was put at ease within a few minutes of playing as the look and feel of the game is fantastic. I will provide a detailed update after I get a chance to put in some hours, but I just wanted to thank the developer for putting a big smile on my face and capturing the genre so well.

It's fun, Its just a different take on the old classic formula, but it still works for a reason. Its Awesome! It plays very smooth and once you get fully upgraded you can really light em up, pew pew! I dig the crt effect, it really gives it those retro vibes with the warm glow of crt that makes you just wanna huddle around it with a pocket full of quarters.

System & Setup: Windows 10 64bit Intel Core i9 10900K NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER ...Which might be a tiny bit overkill for this game. It can likely be run off of a potato with little difficulty. Review: It's a nice little homage to retro arcade shmups. I paid only $3.15 for it, so it's hard to really knock it. The CRT effect and the bezel art is nice. There is a nice variety of enemies and bosses to fight. Anybody buying this should know that it's not a particularly hard game to finish for anybody used to playing shoot 'em ups. I only played for less than half an hour and I've cleared the game with all of the achievements (except the one for dying, go figure).
