About Super Crate Box
✦ AI summary
Fight endless waves of enemies and grab weapon crates to rack up high scores in this arcade-inspired action game. Super Crate Box nails the retro aesthetic with tight controls, inventive mechanics, and a killer chiptune soundtrack that'll have you chasing the leaderboards all over again.
Vlambeer's SUPER CRATE BOX is coming to bring back the glory of the golden arcade age, when all that really mattered was getting on that high score list. Grab your baseball cap and loosen your pants, it's time to fight endless hordes of enemies and collect every weapon crate you can. Prepare for an arcade delight with tight controls, refreshing game mechanics, cracking retro art and a terribly hip chiptune soundtrack.

cool indie game
messed up but i do find it pretty cool that the las vegas shooter shouted this game out in his manifesto
Sadly this game is unplayable unless you change your refresh rate to 60 fps, I assume. The game is one of those that depends completely on frame rate. So if you have a 180 hz monitor like me, the game is at 3x speed. And it doesn't have a dedicated FPS limiter, which is quite the oversight. I do have fond memories of playing this game for a bit but it was too hard for me as I was very young when first playing this. Since it's free, I can't give this a thumbs down. Half an hour played and I still remember this game very well.
It's ok
This weird cube thing goes on a shooting spree in random locations, killing monsters with all sorts of guns. Its good for a free game with an interesting style for its gameplay. Its an arcade game where you gain points by switching weapons, forcing a sense of adaptability to get to the next weapon pickup without dying along the way. Other than that, its pretty tame in terms of content, but its good enough for being a free game.
pretty neat. little gem of a free game you could play offline on a plane or car trip. although maybe today it's a bit borring.
