Wardrum is a turn-based rhythm roguelite where you plan and execute your tactics in time with the primal pounding of a tribal wardrum for maximum impact.Off-beat magic has infected the lands, neighbouring settlements have fallen and it’s up to you and a band of five warriors to keep the beat, venture out into a harsh fantasy world filled with rhythm magic and stop the source of this off-beat threat once and for all.You’ll need grit, a strategic mind and a feel for tribal rhythms to succeed. Your warriors possess a range of abilities each with their own beat patterns to master. Plan your advance on a tactical grid carefully, find your groove and empower the warband's attacks with rhythm magic. Dominate the battlefields by unleashing devastating strikes, setting traps and pushing/pulling foes into arrow range.The enemy is powerful and death is certain, but the weakening Rhythm Mother's final blessing allows your warband to repeat the beat and try again, until the corruption across the land is truly vanquished. Each painful loss makes you stronger as you enhance your tactics, power up your warriors and become one with the rhythm. On your run you’ll face new encounters, enemies and battlefields randomised with hazards, traps, ambushes, weather and other environmental challenges. Remember, keep in time to the beat and maybe there’s a chance you’ll survive…Play your way by choosing the ultimate warband from units such as the warrior, the assassin, the summoner and more. Build your characters by picking new abilities per level up, and equip trinkets found in the wild to create broken builds. Forge custom rhythm abilities that can turn the tide of battle, and challenge the false gods to save the lands!
- Deep tactical turn-based combat where careful planning and flawless rhythmic execution can mean the difference between life and death.
- Build a warband to suit your playstyle. Each character possesses a unique set of abilities from warrior to warlock or archer to rogue. Level up and unlock new abilities across branching paths, equip 2 trinkets per unit to find powerful combinations and turn the tide of battle with devastating ultimate abilities.
- Execute your attacks & abilities in time with the tribal beat to maximise the impact and unleash critical strikes. Be warned, keeping to the beat may be harder than it seems: debuffs such as bleeding, blinding and deafening will play havoc with rhythms!
- Adjust rhythm difficulty – If you choose to set this to Easy, the game will compensate for the timings of the beat inputs, making it easier for you to hit those perfect notes and perform abilities more effectively! Easy mode will also make it less punishing to your units when you miss a beat too.
- Make use of the battlefield by comboing attacks and hazards: push enemies off cliffs, activate deadly traps, and pull foes into kill zones set by your archer.
- Every run brings different challenges. Trek across six distinctive biomes with randomising map paths, navigating through battles, sanctuaries and other events to go toe to toe against dangerous bosses. Face death, learn from your mistakes, upgrade your warband and venture forth again.
- All biomes come with their own formidable enemies and environmental dangers—Rhythmstorms, dense mists and unnerving eclipses can hinder (or help) your success on the battlefield.
- Encounter a range of over 35 menacing enemies that require careful tactical planning to overcome. Take on fallen gods, battle ancient dragons and other monstrosities in intense boss battles. Your tactical skills will be put to the test.

seems neat but on ultra wide you cant see the characters and some of the UI. Needs some work.2 found this helpful
A very good mix of ryhm and tactical game on a slay the spire style roguelite formula. I enjoyed my time with it even if the game run out of steam pretty fast (basically you can get 5 runs of out it to complete everything (aka beat the last last boss with everyone). It's one of these game that kept its scope pretty narrow with as a result a thight and well crafted experience, with the drawback of having "just enough" content to carry it trough the end but not any further. The game also has a couple of ideas, like being able to talk with some NPCs, but they have almost nothing to say to you which makes the thing feel kinda unifinish. Also, the roguelite formula fall flat due to the very, VERY limited set of gear you can get and equipe. For the devs, if I had one big suggestion for you, it would be to move the unlock of the ultimates somewhere where you are kinda forced to unlock them first. I only unlocked them after I beat the last boss a second time to complete the game with all characters, and by that point I honestly had no reason nor motivations to bother going trough another run. Overall I had a great time and hope we'll see a sequel to it, with a bigger budget …1 found this helpful
It's a good game
I like it! While the game certainly doesn't have deeper complexity it has enought variety not to be bored till you can complete the game by killing the main boss 3 times. Combos are challenging but not impossible and the enemies are challenging enough without feeling overpowered or reliant on RNG/Luck. Solid game if you enjoy positional turn based RPG's but don't want to play a more complex/time consuming game.

[Meh/Dropped]. Might come back to give another try, but honestly, bad first impression. Like the idea with rhythm combat, hate the grid phase of it. The biggest offender is being slow-paced, expected to have longer rhythmic "blasting" sections rather than "once in a while" short attacks. Most of the time is spent in animations, grid "management", and navigating the UI.
