we happy few is a game that i wouldn’t rush to tell anyone about but if asked i’d definitely say i loved it. most of the negative reviews here on steam are about its “wonky mechanics” regarding the stealth and combat. i can see where the criticism is coming from. the stealth is indeed unreliable, but not punishing. it’s rather easy to get out of sight/combat. but if you do decide to engage in a fight i’d say it’s not challenging, but kind of goofy? but if you keep in mind that in this game there are no “monsters”, only regular people that you are hiding amongst, trying to blend in, pretending to be one of them. playing stealthily makes much more sense so i think the poor combat isn’t that big of a deal. for me at least it didn’t affect my gameplay at all and i was able to enjoy the story regardless. and that is actually what people tend to overlook. we happy few has an amazing concept with good character writing. the dystopian world is beautifully presented. i really liked the whole drug, masks and fake happiness thing. so many lies, so much sorrow hidden away. you could really see the effects of the war and the futile attempt of the government to cover it up and pretend like nothi…2 found this helpful

[h1] TLDR: 6.5/10 Incredible Story Weighed Down by Subpar Gameplay. The DLCs HEAVILY Improve in That Department However [/h1] [h3] Actual Review (Gameplay Spoilers Ahead) [/h3] You're basically required to get attached to the universe and characters to actually enjoy this game. The mission structure really boils down to that one scene from Malcom in the Middle of Hal fixing the light bulb lol. Go here for something, setback occurs, go all the way here and back to get something else, rinse and repeat. Quite a few main quests suffer from this, and almost every single side quest too. [h3] Base Game [/h3] Thankfully, the story is easy to get into if you stick with it past the initial learning curve. It's far from the tightest or most sensical plot, but the universe and worldbuilding are just THAT good (and the setting allows for continuity errors to be glossed over). Not to mention the music and npc dialogue that really help sell the world. It's got mystery, humor, unease, melancholy...literally any emotion you can think of. Lovely day for it! When it's on sale! Okay real talk- Pros: good visuals, Great world building, Amazing characters and voice acting, Uncle Jack. Let me start of by saying I absolutely love the world building and style of this game, even back in 2017 when i first saw it being played it grabbed my attention and wouldn't let go, fast forward 2 years and it gets released on Xbox, so i sink 60 bucks into and and just start playing. The Game was super fun but had some glaring issues with performance. Regardless i loved the game and had a blast up until i finished the story for aurther and learned there was another character to play now and that the game wasn't complete. This was a bit of a surprise but also a bit annoying cause i had put almost 20 hours into aurther just to get reset back to zero with a different character, that was a bummer. Regardless i played through with sally although not nearly as committed as i was with arthur until i beat her story. Much to my surprise after the ending cutscene there was now another player to play in that of Ollie, don't get me wrong the characters and their stories are good especially authers but at this point i just wanted to beat the game and be done with it. so after only about an hour or so i fully lost interest in the game when it fully hit me that i have to do everything again with…
