This game is okay, but it has one weird quirk... I'm not sure why, maybe it's a me issue, but this game uses like 5-10% of my gpu for the first 10-20 mins of playing, then suddenly it jumps up to over 90% gpu usage, making my PC sound like an actual jet engine, and continue to climb and use as much gpu power as my PC will possibly allow, until I shut the game down. This game is okay, but with this weird quirk I can't be bothered to play it and neither will I recommend it..2 found this helpful
When the Light Dies is a survival-focused roguelite developed by Electric Monkeys and published by PQube that takes a familiar genre formula and reshapes it around a powerful central idea: light is life. Set within a frozen world swallowed by supernatural darkness, the game places players in a desperate battle against both the environment and the creatures that emerge from the shadows. Rather than presenting a traditional heroic adventure, it delivers an experience built on tension, scarcity, and the constant fear of what may be lurking just beyond the edge of visibility. The game's greatest achievement is how effectively it transforms darkness into an active gameplay mechanic. In many survival games, darkness is simply an obstacle that limits vision, but here it becomes a genuine threat. Every step away from a reliable light source increases danger, creating an atmosphere of anxiety that rarely fades. Players are constantly searching for ways to keep their lanterns burning, maintain warmth, and extend their chances of survival. This creates a compelling sense of urgency where even routine exploration can feel risky and meaningful. Combat unfolds through fast-paced twin-stick sho…1 found this helpful
bought it on a deal i think. neat little game, but replayability is very poor. play it once and that's most of the experience. replaying as a different character and weapons doesn't feel different. Sure for a few bucks is fine. the feeling and reward isn't there.

Not recommended full price, needs vast reduction (which I got at) If you like Lovecraft or Bloodborne aesthetic and the Vampire Survivor style games then you'll enjoy this, but that's where it'll end. > Did I enjoy - yes. Likely due to aesthetic and it was first vampire survivor style game. > Was it repetitive - yes > Does it have good replayability - no At the beginning you'll get lots of currency for simple task and unlocks for weapons, powers and minor upgrades. But the characters are all the same, with mildly worse stats and cosmetic, no other features or specials. Some weapons require specific power ups to be useable (longbow with multidirectional fire) or become worse with power ups (repeating rifle with knockback levelled up, the distance the shot firsts from yourself allows enemies close and then knocks them and cling to you for large damage). The Madness/ Level difficulty was interesting until ~10, and then became very boring. 15-20 was exactly the same feelings, with the bosses being practically 3 shot and I hadn't fully levelled up my skills trees. This was my first vampire survivor style game so I enjoyed. But actually writing there was just some many feature…
