Push through test chambers in a mysterious research facility by using gravity, cubes, and switches, and not worry about speed. As is often the case in puzzle focused games, the main attraction is not the character you control but the world you are placed in. The narrative begins in a familiar setting, a research facility that also functions as a testing ground. Your task is to progress through a series of test that don’t really reveal the reason behind them. There is an added layer of mystery since the company in charge has recently obtained a fragment of an asteroid. When you exit the elevator, the place is empty. Even the receptionist has disappeared, with the excuse that everyone is attending an important meeting. Instead of human guidance, instructions come through the speakers. A friendly voice gives you directions, but this person has not been told about the meeting either and admits to being out of the loop. The first puzzles are designed to introduce the essential mechanics. The central idea is gravity manipulation, which occurs when you walk over a special pad. Each pad has an entrance marker that shows how gravity will shift once you step on it. The change is not ran…

haven't had the chance to dig too deeply into the game yet but partway through the second track of puzzles at time of review, will updated later neat puzzling, the gravity mechanic is unusual enough to feel fresh but there's still plenty of intuitive design to the problem solving so that it's not too frustrating narrative isn't expanded on too much so far but it's just a character speaking over an intercom at you and a handful of audio logs - you can definitely feel the portal inspiration in the visual design and the way the narrative emerges but without quite the same level of polished charm it's something cool though, it's very reasonably priced and honestly there just aren't enough puzzle games getting made these days so i recommend supporting one more

Interesting game mechanics and the levels put them to good use. Some levels feel a bit contrived or can be cheesed, but those are in the minority. Overall the levels are really clever. The walking speed is a bit slow, which might annoy impatient players. I liked the clean visuals that communicate well what you're looking at. Especially, there is a view mode illustrating the connections between objects, which helps with orientation in an effective and elegant way.

Haven't finished yet since I got a little tired after powering through a good chunk of the puzzles in one sitting, will say though that this game does have some pretty good puzzles sometimes, and when it does have a good puzzle it's a pretty good puzzle. Unfortunately it's a bit hit or miss and the "miss" puzzles are a bit of a slog to get through, but overall it's been a pretty decent experience. I like the mechanics, the voice acting is nice, and the minimalist visuals feel great. Physics are a bit floaty but it's not the end of the world. Definitely gonna keep playing but for now I think it's definitely a game I'd recommend giving a try, even if you decide to buy it on sale. Glad I took the risk in buying this niche indie game.

If you beat this game you will be certified big brain. Play this if you want to exercise your spatial reasoning skills. Just remember its okay to forget how to shift the green cube every other level. It happens

Whitematter is a great first person puzzle game. I actually played this game a while ago, and though I can't speak to the complete experience, what I played was rather pleasant. The puzzles are interesting, and there's some background lore to discover. If I had any one criticism, it would probably be that some puzzles can get very disorienting with the way gravity changes. But otherwise, a decent puzzle game that will keep you engaged if you're looking for first puzzle puzzle-chamber style games.
