    ✦ AI summary

Players consistently praise the game's cozy atmosphere, engaging story, and charming visual novel structure that complements its tactical gameplay. However, opinions diverge on whether the balance between narrative and strategy works well—some enjoy the puzzle-like tactics and relaxed pacing, while others felt it leans too heavily into visual novel territory at the expense of depth as a tactical RPG, with occasional technical bugs that require restarting.

A fun little game. Very enjoyable, but a few bugs in the pipeline can lead to loading issues. Usually a quick restart fixes it. Great story. Enjoyed it. Very cozy.

A fun tactics game with quick levels and a cozy plot. Levels are more akin to puzzles than really SRPG-adjacent, with small maps and reduced amounts of enemies and players with different abilities, which is really nice.

it's more a visual novel than it is a tactical rpg game, which I didn't like a bit shallow

Wintermoor Tactics Club, developed by EVC Games and published by Versus Evil, is a story-driven tactical RPG that blends turn-based strategy with the structure and charm of a visual novel. Set within the snowy grounds of the prestigious Wintermoor Academy, the game revolves around a small and somewhat overlooked extracurricular group known as the Tactics Club. Rather than focusing on grand world-saving adventures or epic fantasy battles, the story centers on a group of students who bond over their shared love of tabletop role-playing games. When the academy’s headmaster suddenly announces a school-wide snowball fighting tournament where losing clubs risk being permanently disbanded, the Tactics Club is forced to step out of its quiet corner of the campus and compete against the school’s more popular organizations. This unusual premise immediately gives the game a distinctive tone, combining playful humor with a heartfelt narrative about friendship, belonging, and creativity. The story follows Alicia, the club’s enthusiastic yet socially awkward leader, who writes campaigns for her friends to play in their fictional tabletop game called Curses & Catacombs. I suspect this game is actually for children but I'm having a nice time with it all the same

This game is the definition of a compelling above average game that doesn't quite make it to the height occupied by leading SRPGs as of 2026. There is much to like here. It has a very cozy feel to it, the bad guys are simply other nerdy school kids like the protagonist. It is a somewhat serious story similar to teen dramas that you see on TV for better or worse. The art style and animation are very well done and smooth. I enjoyed going round the "world map" and exploring areas to see if any dialogue has been updated or areas opened up. The core of this game, the battles themselves is actually quite solid. There is something about the presentation which reminds me of Banner Saga (which is high praise). There is not much negative to dwell on. It is a bit of an easy game, this is not a stat and tactics heavy game. It is the type where you chill out and play tactics-lite where the challenge is how little damage or few turns you need to beat the map as opposed to an existential threat to your character's survival. If you are happy to overlook the chilled out vibes and easy gameplay then this is a really fun game to play. Recommended 7/10.
