The Story
Captain Paul, his loyal friend Rickard, mysterious Korina fon Eisenwald... Cursed monastery of Shemergard has captured many in its trap. But who can escape it and overcome the dark magic of its mysterious Overlord and his unspeakable minions?
"With good intentions" is a nonlinear visual novel with two main characters. Unravel the mysteries of Shemergard together with Paul and his friends (and maybe not only friends). Save the abbey together with Rayon fon Eigo who had learned how to cheat his death. Define your way yourself. What will Paul? What will the final fate of other characters be? You decide.
Find out why the master died and resurrected over and over. Walk this path together with him and Paul. Survive in the endless abbey corridors and defeat the monsters who live there.
Reveal the secret of the immortal ruler of Shemergard
"Look, something is wrong here…"
What is it?"
"The silence." No sound of cattle or birds – what kind of a monastery is that? And no sound of people.
After a wistful shiver, Richard added:
"This doesn't bode well."
Die. Rise. Find a way out.
The main characters
The main heroes will have to endure whatever trials they encounter within the walls of Shemergard. But if Paul facing death has no room for mistake, fate treated Rayon much more favourably.
The Master is destined to partake in the key events of this ill-fated siege of the abbey over and over again: to seek the missing information, walk off established paths to find new ones... And die. But death is followed by an awakening and another chance.
Rayon remembers every defeat and uses this knowledge to win. Killed by a murderer's knife? Take a company of loyal knights! And hope that heathens will not venture into the monastery while they are away.

The finest of knights
See the sombre splendor of Shemergard and its everpresent tenants in all the glory!
The highly detailed characters will play their drama backed by colourful decorations and original visual effects.
Time and dark magic have taken its toll on the abbey's walls, and the heroes will see the difference with their on eyes.

The bond of times have broken
The story of the visual novella is taking place in two epochs. It could seem that they are connected only in the main character's visions. But every step inside the infamous abbey will bring the player closer to revealing of the Shemergard's secret which is hidden in both worlds.

Rules of the Genre
From horror and thriller to epic adventures and detective - "With Good Intentions" goes beyond the standard storyline limits. The story told in different genres proves to be interesting and intriguing.
Love flourishes at the battle field
The heroes are surrounded by their compadres ready to provide their support in the most difficult situations. Where will their adventures lead to: to enmity, friendship or something bigger?

 - Lack of instant dialog skip, manual saving and bugged dialog log make the experience tedious and frustrating, especially in the ‘past’ timeline where repetition is common. - Unique branching choices don’t really feel impactful on subsequent events, as their consequences are rather obscure most of the time. - Frequent issues with translation quality, proofreading, typos and sentence construction. The localization to ENG from RUS is of subpar quality, at best. - Dubious logic and narrative fallacies in multiple chapters, especially in the ‘past’ timeline, in which you’ll frequently fail and die for hilariously forced, implausible reasons. - Most characters feel generic or are indeed interesting at first, but then fail to evolve and keep interest up with their persona as the adventure continues.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions…
The abovementioned proverb describes this visual novel perfectly, as perhaps its initial ideas were solid; however, their implementation is half-baked at best—even that might be an overexaggeration. That would be because With Good Intentions tries to be overly complex for its own good, switching between many literary genres without fully committing to them, leading to their superficial presentation. As if that would not be enough, its death mechanic forces you to venture through many paths repeatedly, bringing tediousness and killing my interest swiftly. Anyway, taking place in the possibly 18th century, it all starts in the city of Shemergard, where a group of rangers hides before the vicious attack of the rebels. While you manage to fend them off, you start noticing strange curiosities in this ruined town; time seems to flow differently at certain places, and even some weird visions appear to haunt our protagonist’s mind. It does not take long, and you start witnessing the events happening in the distant past from someone’s else eyes. There is definitely something wrong with this place, as an unnatural…29 found this helpful
Really wish the devs luck on this and in the future, this game clearly has ambition and some talent behind it, but its missing key features for a visual novel and overall the presentation is very clunky. This feels like it needs a lot more polish to really shine.7 found this helpful
I really wanted to like this game. Unfortunetly I just cant really get behind it. The story is interesting and for as long as I played it seemed like some of your decisions make a difference, but the writing itself is lacking almost like they need someone to proof read it again and fix small mistakes. It just feels uncomfortable to read.3 found this helpful
Like game but hard to know which choice is the best one without killing the main character many times over. Would love to see a walkthrough of all of the choices and their results to help me navigate the game more smoothly. Otherwise, it's really frustrating to literally run into "dead ends". Anyone know of one already available?1 found this helpful
Name captures this game well as it has a lot of good ideas. However the devs intentions don't quite work out. The rewind system become a bit of a slog while the writing and art is good enough I suffered from several game breaking bugs stopping me from even completing the game.
