I've been following this game, in a sense for a while. I bought it a long time ago and have played it sporadically since not too long after release. Well, I just tried again, and became it's very Frustrating because this is far along yet still riddled with game breaking bugs. The council glitch I see mentioned in a 2025 review is still there, are they even aware? How did this happen to me -- I messed up and mis-clicked the council so underpaid them, and the demand skyrocketed. So, I reloaded, and the demand only went up on reload! But that's not all... Rooms break and are unfixable, this happened to all my mana windmills so I connected them, deleted the, and more, and still broken and unrepairable... well, my save is just broken about an hour in. And, these bugs are in addition to gameplay issues which are just difficult overlook. How do you get more stone? Is this going to be the size of your castle, period? The council thing is just broken. ... I'd recommend against buying this in case it is shuttered, but at the same time, I enjoy what's there and really want them to fix and complete and expand on it. So I'm still putting a thumbs up because the game has some great aspects an…3 found this helpful
Appears to be a wonderful game, I enjoy playing it, but it becomes almost unplayable after a while, constructor teachers no longer build or repair buildings, even if they are fully reachable. The mana wellspring building never visualizes it just limits where I can build but is otherwise just an empty space on the map, causing the building to look empty in the middle. As the constructors stop repairing and building new buildings I am constantly running out of mana and cannot increase production or storage, neither can I expand to more classrooms or even the higher level classrooms.1 found this helpful
It's one of the most bugged games i've ever played. Indeed it's unplayable for a very large number of issues that were't solved in months of "developping". Indeed it's seriously incomplete, there's neither the function to speed up the payment of taxes, so the unfortunate player must spend minutes putting coins one by one (!).1 found this helpful
The demo was better than the actual game — and that’s the biggest red flag here. Whatever build they used for the demo clearly wasn’t the one they released, because the early access version is a technical disaster. NPCs constantly refuse to perform basic tasks, which breaks the entire gameplay loop. The game crashes so often it feels like a feature. Saves fail randomly, meaning hours of progress can vanish without warning. And the worst part? Closing the game doesn’t even close the game. It just hangs in the background and forces me to restart my entire PC every single time. I play a lot of niche, janky, experimental titles. I’m patient. I’m forgiving. I’ve even made small games myself, so I understand how messy development can be. But this isn’t “early access rough.” This is fundamental systems not working at all. It genuinely feels like the team didn’t test the build before pushing it live. Right now, the game is beyond playable. The demo showed potential, but the current release shows a team that isn’t even trying to meet the bare minimum of functionality.
Almost 5hrs in, I want to love it, but still super buggy and it's missing some explanations on things. I might give it another chance after some updates.
This game does have potential, however there are also lots of problems that need to be addressed beforehand. First there are plenty of bugs, the most notable being that every time I loaded a save my trust with the council would reset to 500 (Which is the default). I also was hit with a black screen that blocked everything that required a reload to remove. There is also lots of micromanaging, you will need to approve or dismiss every student and teacher that pops up in queue without a way to sort out certain traits or anything like that. Stuff like that worked for Spellcaster University which is a rouge-lite, but even then It started getting old. Also The magic your students learn doesn't really have any effect on anything (Thus far at least), Spellcaster University for example allowed you to use the mana you earn (Basically magic experience from students) to add to your school and do things outside of it as well. I stand by my statement that this game has potential, but it needs work.
