While I prefer World Heroes 2 Jet as my favorite WH game, there is no denying that the cooperation between ADK and SNK helped make World Heroes Perfect a very competent and fun fighting game. The inclusion of super moves and desperation attacks, complete with awesome animations, brought the WH franchise into the current era at the time, while the speed and input adjustments made it a more comfortable fit for those players who had grown used to other SNK fighters. What I love about the World Heroes property is the absurdity of the whole thing. The idea of pitting characters, based on historic figures and folklore, against one another through the use of a time machine is both ludicrous and genius. The first WH game was released at the height of the Street Fighter II fervor and, as such, was largely categorized as a SF copy or clone. However, on closer view, the game was a very competent fighter at the time and swayed enough people to get three more sequels / updates. In World Heroes Perfect, the characters are wacky but cool, the moves are bold, and the backgrounds take players across several eras in human history. The music is fitting and the announcer's voice carries ove…3 found this helpful
Recommended for experienced fighting game players looking for something new or nostalgic. More spectacle than substance. The graphics and audio are nice. I play fighters on low difficulty and I found this game to be a bit frustrating, though that's just how some of these older games are. This version comes with a nice package with online play, training mode, and other goodies.2 found this helpful
Decent port, I enjoy it.1 found this helpful
Ok, NeoGeo classic re-release that ALONE makes it worth a buy but I do have to say way more than that. First of all, this game is very near and dear to my heart, I remember playing the first one where the final boss was just a liquid metal dude not the Neo-Dio that's seen in this one, and Fuuma and Hanzo have been characters that have just stuck to me as time went on... that being said boy this game is clunky, if you stop holding back you absolutely stop blocking if you want to say 'that's every fighting game' I will respond 'tell that to the multi-hit attacks on this game' I'm so used to stop holding back on those to start offence once they are done that I got hit an embarassing amount of times in this game, also characters fall out of your multi-hit attacks and they can counter at that point that also happened an embarassing amount of times, and they can grab you out of a punch, the CPU does it often so I'm sure that's a possiblity but I never pulled off half the ♥♥♥♥ the computer could with this half-baked mechanics. Also, big heads up, Neo-Dio is kind of a ♥♥♥♥, I'm sure the final boss moves at 3 times the speed that any other character in this game.1 found this helpful
It has a certain amount of SF2-era jank to the controls, as you might expect from a fighter this old. This is paired with more anime-fighter mechanics like air block, dashes, and multiple super moves. Fun fighter.
