About Zone 10
Zone 10 is an original take on the tower defense genre. In the game, you can mine asteroids to gain money and spend it on building and defending your own custom maze. The game takes place in deep-space where you command a spaceship that is in charge of defending a space station from attack. The game is divided up into two phases separated by a timer. The first being, "Explore", where you use your spaceship to mine asteroids that are defended by marauding pirates and then use the proceeds to purchase maze blocks, upgrades, and defensive equipment such as turrets and ships. Once the timer reaches zero the enemy will attack your Starbase. Try and survive as long as you can!Build the Paths of Your Starbase with Speciality Blocks!

We have designed specialty maze blocks that when placed next to each other form pathways, obstructions, and different colored platforms. The various colored platforms allow you to place corresponding turrets or landing pads that allow you to fight off incoming enemies.
Enemies

The two types of enemies are separated into space ships and assault troops. Assault troops are dropped onto your space-station by transport ships and will follow your maze to the command center and damage your starbase unless killed by your turrets. Spaceships will harass and blow up your turrets and/or your spaceships.

Zone 10 is a 2D retro pixel hybrid of top down "SpaceWar!" themed shooter and classic tower defense game that's been slapped together with the godawful GameMaker Studio video game construction kit from Yoyogames. The concept is unique and clever. It's evident this is more than the usual case of a developer filling out some templates/flipping some GMS assets and dumping the mess on Steam. It's unfortunate that a great and original idea is coupled with a very poor quality, lacklustre implementation. They chose to use obsolete retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. Resolution and controls are locked. These flaws push this game far below minimum acceptable standards for PC. GameMaker Studio is a very poor quality game construction kit, and unsurprisingly results in products that have little to no value as games, especially when compared to the work of professional developers who create genuine products for gamers. Using a video game construction kit typically requires little to no talent or skill as a game developer. …3 found this helpful
Updating my review to actually talk about the game: its fun and has quite a bit of depths to it. It has tower defense elements, mining/crafting systems are simple and fun, you can get out of your ship and kill enemies on the ground running around, lots of cool upgrades. If you're into RTS / Tower Defense this game will challenge and entertain you.1 found this helpful
Before I played Zone 10, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good

Finally a good ♥♥♥♥♥♥ take
This game has some cool and weird things going on with it. Get this, it's a tower defense game right? However, the way of placing the turrets, and planning the pathing of the enemies is under your complete control. They mitigate this initial ease by making pathing blocks that you have to purchase. Once purchased you are expected to be the one to place them down strategically to match the patterns of randomly generated tiles and turrets so that they can be configured into an optimal maze. The game requires phases which can make things a bit annoying. After every round you must travel out to gather supplies, which sometimes will require you have a strong ship. Something that isn't necessarily useful in the defense phase. But a balance is required and can be found pretty easily. Prioritizing the maximization of your turrets and stunting the ship growth as secondary in order to gain cash required to build an infuriating maze for the A.I. to meander around for more than the necessary amount of time to beat you. The music is pretty good, controls are simple enough, and I think this makes for an incredibly fun free to play game.
3/10 medic bags (better then a cloaker)
