About ZOSU VR Explosive Bow Hunting
Vast and beautiful HD forests await you in this virtual reality game! Hunt animals (fallen aliens in disguise) with exploding arrows (cartoonish destruction) in a variety of levels covering over 3 square miles (7 square kilometers) with many animals and foliage.
Have you ever wanted to climb trees in VR while making your way through forests while hunting? Then this is the game for you!
Playable on:
- oculus touch devices (oculusquest linked, metaquest2 /oculusquest2 linked, metaquestpro linked, oculus rift, oculusrifts),
- valve index,
- hp reverb g2 with valve index controllers,
- pico4 PCVR
Each level varies in both size and content. Explore levels with a variety of different features per level, some including: climbable trees, climbable castles / urban cities / villages, oceans, snow, dynamic weather, day/night cycles, dense scenic forests and climbable forests, and more!
Most of the animals (aliens) are fairly stationary as to try to be more camouflaged, as such this game / experience is largely about exploring and finding animals in a casual virtual environment.
Experienced on the Meta Quest 2
You can view my initial impressions & gameplay here: https://youtu.be/nNNf4fPB050 Are you a YouTube meme content creator? Is PewDiePie your hero? Then I can truly recommend this game for you. Otherwise, I would pass on this horribly made game. You basically explode ugly looking animal 3D models with your bow & arrow explosive arrows for the LOLs in several maps. Game runs horribly. It's buggy as well. Want to know more? Watch my video link above. Rate 3/10.
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program. ZOSU VR Explosive Bow Hunting is an Early Access paid VR archery game. It worked on my HTC Vive and Index system, looked ok, played ok, sounded ok. The bow and arrow physics looked ok. Maybe buy this on sale, if you like archery games. I got a free key for this from the Steam Curator program. I think this game is in a great state for early access,, I played this using an OculusQuest2 hardwired into my PC. I enjoyed running around making animals go BOOM! and the climbing trees, the arrows work great. The game seemed to run good on default setting,, it was quite beautiful and serene even on those settings. I recommend it to anyone wanting to checkout something fresh, plus there was some other nice looking stuff I saw in this game3 found this helpful
Lack of petting is a missed opportunity!
I got the key for the game off twitter, where the author posted it for grabs. This game looks like a learning project of someone exploring either game engines or learning on how to make VR games. The graphics are probably assets bought for cheap on some asset store, but do work surprisingly well in VR despite their low quality.
Animals are friendly!
I don't see a reason to shoot them. Feelsbadman. Simply put these animals are somewhat cute despite their low-polyness. They are missing animal sounds though, which could be interesting for e.g. the animation of the wolf growling. I know they're supposed to be the body-snatching aliens in the lore, but come on! Let me at least pet the dog and the big cats in the menu ! :D Oh, and add a collision model. It feels weird that they don't have physical presence in the world. I know I know, aliens, holograms, etc. Plus having a body would allow for petting, yay!
Levels
The levels also do have a nice feel to them. You can climb things, although the mechanics of that is really clunky and good luck getting on top of things to end the climb. Foliage is quite dense, trees are hi…1 found this helpful
Disclaimer: I've received this game for free via Curator Connect. Bad VR game with non existent gameplay loop, but surprising amount of effort put by the developer into some of its parts. Main part - hunting with a bow - is terrible. Animals are poorly animated, have no AI and completely ignore the player. Bow handling is ok (except for the lack of haptic feedback for bowstring draw), but arrows pass throw objects, making it not fun to shoot. It could have been a decent exploration game like Nature Treks VR: visuals are not too bad and the engine can handle huge amounts of foliage and giant dynamic skyboxes. But the environments are poorly designed: everything is very cluttered with plants, there are animals put at random places, buildings look bland. Judging by the number of levels and updates the game had, there was a lot of effort put into it. But for now it looks and plays more like a sandbox for the developer to try stuff, rather than a finished commercial product. Works on Reverb G2
