✦ AI summary

Hellslave is a fun dungeon crawler with dark atmosphere and compelling solo RPG vibes that appeals particularly to character-building RPG fans, though it features brutal difficulty and can feel repetitive with some obtuse quest design that forces backtracking. Players generally enjoy it despite mixed feelings on the combat depth and occasional quality-of-life frustrations, with recommendations tilted toward those who appreciate challenging RPGs and don't mind grinding or a higher difficulty setting.

This is a pretty interesting game. It won't be for everyone, but it is definitely my jam. Great atmosphere, brutal gameplay, and a "solo D&D session" vibe that is really compelling for my tastes. It can be extremely hard if you're not a RPG nerd (I think I built a pretty busted character and the game was still not a cakewalk), and you might feel like you need to grind a little - but, you know, skill issue I guess. (Playing on Hard difficulty btw. If you are a fan of character-building RPGs, I recommend it as a fun and mostly balanced jumping point)

It's dark, fun kinda repetitive and at times lame. Like if you have the red crystal that allows you to go into the demon portals, you have first to go back to the village, talk to an NPC and then enter or when you have to enter a city near the end of the game, you find out its barricaded but cannot enter from the sewers unless you talk to the NPC that sent you there in the first place. Also if you choose an active or passive ability you don't want, you have to reset all active or passive abilities and relearn them. Personally I kinda liked the game despite its flaws.

Theres not a lot of strategizing in this game. You can just spam the best abilites on the enemies that actually could kill you until you win. The gameplay loop isn't as boring as people say. I actually like it at the time of writing this review.
