It really pains me to not recommend it.
The good :

lots of spells and perks for each character which make a good foundation for theorycrafting and team-building.
very nice polish all around, with features I didn't expect for a game of that scale.
game is pretty, sound is good.

The bad :

Game difficulty swings from incredibly punishing early on to a walk in the park for most of the remaining playthrough with occasional one-turn lose encounters.
Game difficulty modifier might as well not exist. Anything that is average or below is easy, but up to pretty late in the playthrough, anything above is too hard.
This game uses consumables as a cheat-way to regulate difficulty. You have mana which you'll always feel the urge to save up until you get a refill and realize you could've been less picky about spending it, and you also have potions that can range from utter ♥♥♥♥ to completely game breaking (stocking on resurrection potions can make you practically immortal for as long as enemies don't use big AOE moves).
Battle encounters are not thought-out : you get overwhelmed by useles…2 found this helpful
If you're thinking about getting it because of the sale, don't. Terrible game overall, becomes very tiresome very fast.1 found this helpful
I remember when Joe Madureira started this comic book and then promptly messed up the release schedule and I don't think I ever read more than the first few issues. Hell, I don't even know if he ever made any additional issues, and it seems the game kind of glosses over the events of the comic as backstory and focuses on the main characters going on a quest to find out more about how magic works in their world. Visually, it's pretty great. The characters look like they do in the comic book but with a few tweaks, such as Gully looking a bit older and Red Monika having somewhat more realistic proportions despite still being absurdly stacked. The story seems rather basic and there's some voice acting for some dialogue during comic-book style cuts-cenes or conversation between the characters and NPC's, but nothing too complex. The gameplay is a bit lackluster, IMO. You have an overworld with established paths, kind of like in some Strategy games, and you fight random mobs in some locations, and you have dungeons or some other locations you can enter and wander around in where you also fight monsters and other enemies in turn-based battles. It's strange because it feels like it's try…
One of the best games I ever played. I comeback to it every few years and start a fresh save... It's brilliant
A great challenging game with a classic RPG feel
Excellent turn based RPG especially for the price
