What Steam players say
Recent verbatim reviews from Steam — separate from playze.io community reviews below.
Forever Skies is a Raft-like exploration game where players build and customize an airship to visit waypoint islands and collect materials, which some find engaging with decent level design and cosmetics that support charity. However, players frequently complain about inventory management issues, excessive resource collection, repetitive biome design, fragile tools that break too quickly, and a general lack of polish that undermines the potential. Most reviewers suggest picking it up on sale rather than at full price, with some finding it merely adequate rather than compelling.
I will preface with saying that I kickstarted this game. I followed this game from the start, when the game was still in development, and tried to like it every time it updated. The original world was beautiful, but the finished game is markedly less so, and for more reasons than graphics. Pros: 1) If you like games like Raft, then you may like this game. The waypoints are like islands that you get to explore and find materials in. You can customize your airship just like you can customize the raft, though there is no looming threat of a shark. 2) The customization of the airship is good... if you get enough materials to be able to research the upgrades in order to make the parts. It's an interesting mix of 'how much weight is too much' and 'can this airship fit between these two things or is it too large?'. I purposefully kept my airship small for that exact reason, but I've seen some very good builds. You do have a lot of freedom with how you can build, and the colors you build with. 3) The world does feel very different at first. There are very few games that feature mostly air-travel, and I assume the airship handles how an airship should. Cons: 1) Those aforem…5 found this helpful
Erratically flying drones. That is why I uninstalled. Other things I did not like: - Not enough inventory space (And upgrades... I found one. I'm sure there are others, eventually... but I've not gotten that far) - Having to repair broken chests and doors to open them rather than simply finishing destroying them to get through and access contents. This is just dumb and rather illogical - Extremely breakable knife. Seriously, this thing breaks so fast you need 2 or 3 of them just to get through an area, taking up more of that sparse inventory space. It also cannot be repaired as far as I can tell. - Stacks are too small given how many resources you can collect. - One quest was definitely given out of order - The one to pass into the red zone was given well after I actually had to get there and figure it out with zero direction or clues on how to do it since previous quest was on the other side of that barrier. I don't need this info to get *back* into the starting zone! - Definitely gets a tad repetitive, having to get through multiple instances of the same type of zone to get all the resources you need. - Rather selective items can be dismantled, despite almost everything being ma…1 found this helpful

GOOD
great game i would give it a play if i was you
I went back and forth on yes or no for recommendation. It was.... ok. Wasn't terrible, wasn't great. Picked it up on sale. When I heard it referred to as "Subnautica in the sky" I didn't expect the story
to be almost the exact same
. Building the airship is cool. Lots of decorative stuff. Cosmetic DLC proceeds go to charity, which I love. Level design was pretty damn awesome. Assets looked spectacular. But... the biomes were.. very much the same. There's an overabundance of resources - too much so. I found myself constantly collecting resources I no longer used, not because I wanted to, but because I HAD to in order to solve puzzles and progress at the various towers. It has good potential, but it lacks a lot of much needed polish. There seemed to be no rhyme or reason to what was crafted where, which made the story quests frustrating. Sometimes you'd find key cards, sometimes you'd craft them, sometimes you got the blue prints by scanning the access points, sometimes you got them by reading a computer. It was all over the place - like they kept changing mechanics and couldn't be bothered to go back and fix quests that used the old ones. There were als…
