The game is beautiful and relaxing. I am really enjoying it. The crafting is a fresh take, the mining mechanics and so on all add a lot of interaction that make resource gathering less mindless and more fun, so from that standpoint its great! I recommend this game, but only if you can live with some performance issues. I'd say my PC is pretty strong, but even so this game barely runs at 60 FPS when you're on a bigger island (measured at mid to high graphics). I really think the game could do with a performance upgrade.2 found this helpful
Steam needs to add a "Meh" recommendation option for games like this. The game is what it tries to be, but that's all it is...a basic run of the mill exploration game with no rime or reason to it other then to "be" those genre tags. The TLDR, if you are looking for something interesting to play, this isn't it. You build to build, you farm to farm, and you explore to achieve those 2 goals. That is it (from what I have seen). To start with, the game doesn't really explain much of anything. Why are you here? What happened to everything/everyone? Why are you doing what you are doing? Who knows lol. Things just are. You are slapped into the game with no explanation of anything and that doesn't just apply to the world environment either, it applies to game mechanics and resource collecting as well. Some stuff is explained with tooltips or popup icons when you look at a resource, but not everything. It took me 8 hours before I realized you need to use the "dorkips" tool to get "tuff" by stabbing the ground -_- lol The exploration is mainly resource and knowledge stone hunting, very little exists outside of that. Because of that, most islands are generic resource fillers with one or two …
just a nice chill game with a little bit of easy combat! The building is easy. A great game. Probably a lot of fun in multiplayer.
Aloft is one of the most original and charming survival/crafting games I’ve played in years. It takes place in a world of floating islands, where exploration is not just about walking across a map, but sailing through the sky, discovering new lands, and gradually turning your own island into a living home. What I love most is the balance between coziness and actual engagement. The game feels relaxing and beautiful but it never becomes boring. There is always something interesting to do: explore another island, improve your home, gather resources, uncover knowledge, cure corruption, or simply enjoy the feeling of flying through the clouds. Absolutely worth it.

I do think this a good blend of exploration and base building. It is a pretty relaxing game.
