Grim Trials

Looks like a cheap knock off of Hades when you first start playing. Trust me, it's not.

This game was not what I expected in an era where rougelites are far too common. This game stands out for its story that connects existential issues. NPCs further enhance the story; combat is simple and engaging due to the quest that requires you to change builds but also rewards you for the attempt. Rouge lite can be complex at times, but this game makes it really simple and easy to digest. Great game.

A wonderful mix of genres of dungeon crawler, RPG and roguelike. Every level is randomized, but not crazily so. In time you'll learn to orient yourself throught the map layout. The story is great, reminded me of Silent Hill in some aspects, I won't spoil here, you just have to experience it yourself. The crafting mini-game is fun, but for people that has good relationships with rhythm, haha. The only thing that was lacking for me is more weapons and the russian localization, I saw so many russian speakers were in the end titles and it doesn't have a localization, that's sad. Oh, and also I hope the game garners enough of an income so the voiceover would appear not just in the intro and ending cinematics. The music is just mindblowing. Buy it, experience it, have fun. Tell about it to your friend, to your partner, to your cat or dog. They'll love it.

UPDATE: The first boss of the game has been balanced so it shouldn't take you too long to beat it now. Art is beautiful and the music is very good. Definitely the strongest part of the game. Gameplay loop is pretty solid. You go to combat, collect resource, most likely die, and then go back to the academy to craft potions and gears for your next run. Its probably good idea to do grocery runs to stack up resources and potions until you're really ready to fight the boss. The first part of the game is a bit too slow in my opinion. They don't give you a lot of options in terms of equipment, just 1 heavy axe to replace your scythe and 1 replacement gears for each slot. With how insanely messy the first boss can get, you're gonna be stuck grinding for skill upgrades before you can get new toys. If you're interested in a stylish hack and slash roguelite, give this one a try!

This game immediately gave me HADES vibes and drew me in, but it's so much more. It has an amazing soundtrack, an interesting storyline, and lots of different ways you can play the game. I actually don't mind the fact that there isn't any "save point" with this game, because it encourages me to go back and upgrade things or check out things I wouldn't normally. This game is a easily addictive game, and I am excited to see where it goes.
