✦ AI summary

Players appreciate Chicken Police: Into the HIVE for its witty writing, beautiful art style, and engaging noir detective story with charming anthropomorphic characters, with particular praise for character development and the continuation of the first game's narrative. The main complaints center on the game being more of an interactive movie with minimal puzzle-solving or meaningful choices, some pacing issues with lengthy dialogue followed by a rushed ending, and a somewhat predictable mystery, though most still consider it a worthwhile sequel for fans of the original.

Dear developers of Chicken Police: Into the HIVE! I will, of course, leave a positive review for the game, because overall I genuinely enjoy the Chicken Police series. However, the resolution of the story in this game is just awful! The entire plotline from the middle of Chapter 3 onward is packed with weird, questionable decisions made by the characters. The dialogue feels bland, dull, and ultimately meaningless — it does nothing to pull you into the world. I’m particularly baffled by the interrogation mechanic — what’s even the point of it? Whether you interrogate a character with a 5-star rating, 1 star, or even 0, you still end up with the exact same amount of information. After all, any important or plot-critical questions are asked by Sonny himself, with no real input from the player. The different dialogue options only give slightly different lines, which eventually funnel down to a single "correct" outcome anyway. Not to mention that sometimes you're forced to ask absurd questions that logically shouldn't lead anywhere useful — but they do. Not because it makes sense, but simply because the developers decided it should work that way. And the final encounter with the mo…

You have two chickens inside of you: Santino "Sonny" Featherland and Martin "Marty" MacChicken. I love the Chicken Police, and noir investigations. This game was great in terms of personal development for all characters and the dialog writing is really pleasant. Graphics are good, lots of work in the characters, the voice acting and their costumes. However, I knew, as a "Noir" story, there are things that will be a bit cliché, things that will be left unsolved and things that will hurt. Bigger problems about a whole world can't be wrapped up nicely with a bow at this end of a point and click game. So there will be more to do in The Wilderness. Clearly, this game doesn't pull any punches by the end. It was rough at times. And there's no real closure, it's kinda brushed off and the player just has to swallow it, no big deal. Some big events or reveals, alas you don't get to hear more about it, it's like some events were just building themselves up for the big fall. For example: [spoiler] Laura, and the fact that you never hear about her ever again after the last chapter, despite putting the name of your partner on your new door, you'd think a wife would have something to say about …

I randomly stumbled upon the first game on PS+ (when I used to have it) and thought the game looked charming so I gave it a go. I fell in love with the world, style, voice acting, writing, music and story! Into the HIVE did everything the first game did but better! It even added a bunch of fun minigames throughout and had me engaged from start to finish. If you like mystery games with quirky and witty writing and a noir theme this one's for you!

There is little interactivity in the game, it's 5% interrogation and collecting clues, 95% clicking through dialogues. It's not bad, but it's not a game.

What a wonderful experience. The best thing about this game is the writing. It's Noir detective writing at its best, especially the dialogue, it had me laughing out loud more than once with it's dry cynical humour. It's not perfect, sure, the gameplay is thin, it feels more like an interactive novel than a game and the ending of the story feels rushed, like they ran out of time and budget, but hell does it still punch your gut and pluck at those heart strings. The work that went into making this game shows and it succeeds in its mission. 9/10
