Tiles & Vials

Fun take on the 2048 formula, which also works a bit like deckbuilder, where you change and adapt your own tiles to slide, so you can continually optimize your runs. Smart game. Not going to change your mind if you dont like the subgenre at all, but other than that it definitely deserves a look.

2048 meets Slay the Spire, this is like everyhting you need to know :) Strong promise for a small price. Some QoL things are yet to improve, like larger boxes or responsive boxes due to german texts or animations that are abpruptly ending due to healing and attack occuring for the same time, but the dev is active on his discord and seems to fix stuff fast. Will sink some more hours into it, you can hop in fast, reminds me of my 2048 sessions on the toilet xD

Really fun and addictive! The tile merging is easy to understand, but there’s still plenty of strategy to it. I especially love the huge variety of artifacts and how much they can change your build and the way you play each run. It makes experimenting with different combinations really satisfying and keeps every run feeling fun!

If you ever wanted to feel like you're slaying your way through a fantasy land by solving a magical equivalent of a Rubik's Cube, then this is a game for you! The way tiles move takes a bit getting used to, but once you get your head around it, things lock in place and you can start focusing on your build and strategy. Great if you like a bit of a brain teaser, rewarded by screams of dying enemies.

It's wonderful to see this game released. I have played 8 hours of the demo alone. I'm so glad I got to download this before an extended time offline. I can't wait to see all that is added. I'll come back and update this review with more specifics once I've been able to dive into the new content but for now I'll just say this is a solid little combo game. It has the base sliding mechanic of a game like Threes to activate combat interactions at the top. The real meat of the game though is in the interactions of combos through the classes you choose and the artifacts you earn as you progress. If you like deckbuilders and combo games, definitely try out the demo.

Really fun game. The whole merging tiles to attack, block, and heal thing is super easy to understand, but there’s a lot more strategy to it once you start getting different artifacts and putting builds together. I like that each run can play pretty differently depending on what you pick up, and it has that “one more run” feeling where you keep wanting to see what kind of combo you can make next. Definitely recommend it if you like roguelikes, deckbuilders, or puzzle games.
