This is just a terrible game, and the optimization is absolutely awful. I have a pretty capable PC, and the game kept freezing constantly. Even clicking the button to exit the game would sometimes cause it to freeze. Usually with this type of game, you're expected to play through multiple endings to get the full picture of the story. That's fine, but the genius decision here was to not include a skip button. So you're forced to play through the entire game five times, even though most of the choices that actually matter happen during the last 5–10 minutes. The game was also abandoned, and it seems like the developers simply stopped listening to feedback. Don't waste your time with this one. There are plenty of better games in this genre to play.

Not the worst game ever, but not the best. It had potential. -I wish there was a fast forward button to get through scenes faster without losing context. -I was expecting more from the "interactive" piece. It's mostly opening/moving things and dialogue options. -The ending I got didn't feel like an ending, felt unresolved.

Confusing story, no one is reliable, stupid endings that don't really answer questions or resolve any mystery.

[h3] INTRO [/h3] [i] Erica is a live-action FMV game where you interact with objects by freely pushing, pulling, rotating, and moving them. I just know directing this game would've been a nightmare, but the end result is that it feels like a Telltale game. [/i] [b] WRITING [/b] [i] Engaging. It's paced really well and the characters are interesting, as they deal with different universal themes. The acting performances are great across the board, and I have a crush on Holly Earl now. The writing and world-building are internally consistent, while the dialogues are okay. The endings' subtexts are a bit rushed, though. [/i] [b] CINEMATOGRAPHY [/b] [i] Striking. The colour grading, shot selection, blocking, framing, and composition are really elite, even wallpaper-worthy at times. I really wish that this was on Letterboxd, so I could log it. [/i] [b] VIBE/ATMOSPHERE [/b] [i] Immersive. Along with the impeccable cinematography, the SFX here does a lot of the heavy lifting. It's a really moody crime-thriller with some open-ended/ambiguous plot points, and it tells you just enough to keep you hooked.
