Do you wish that a game could scratch that itch for fast paced, low-fi action, but not have to tweak 16 different config files and download 4 patches just so the game can work on modern hardware? Then you need SPRAWL zero! The fast paced, low-fi shooter with head banging electronic music that puts YOU in the mechsuit of FIVE, the cybernetically enhanced golem tasked with hunting down the leaders of a religious zealot group, the IMAGO-DEI. Use over forty different weapons and three unique abilities while hunting through the SPRAWL purging every religious fanatic between you and your objective. Of course, the truth can't hurt you. It can only set you free.

It is rare I am actually impressed by a game nowadays but dear god....this game felt like a love letter. Everything from the gameplay, music, sense of needing to explore everything for things like codex entries. It all makes this game just feel like the developers themselves wanted to kick the door down and show us what they got. Please for the love of god take all the time you need making a sequel to this and stay a small studio!

Looks good, the music sounds good, and runs well. Sprawl Zero wants to evoke everything under the sun, with particular emphasis on directly lifting stylings from Halo, but ends up being a mishmash of 2000s shooter tropes that don't really work together. -Flat, impactless shooting. No thump to any weapon - even the Gravity Hammer rip feels like you're slapping enemies with a stick. -Awkward movement that finds itself flirting with some of the more fluid games of the genre but with hard rails that keep it from ever being satisfying. Locking yourself in and out of a sprint animation during combat feels atrocious. -Excessive, grating backtracking that pads out nearly every mission. Maybe my #1 complaint. The first few missions have cute shortcuts when you go back, but that goes away later, leaving the player to slog back through levels with a few enemies tossed back in. -Lazily designed encounters. Enemies will often spawn directly in front of you upon hitting a mission trigger. Enemy groupings are always the same - which might be fine, if any of the enemies behaved uniquely or played off of each other to create new or exciting situations. They do not.
