The Case of the Golden Idol

While I wish we get more game like Obra Dinn, this type of genre is the closest I can get to that game. While currently a lot of indie games now copying this genre where you filled out the text from words you found in the scene. The Case of the Golden Idol is one of the first to do this (at least from what I know) and still the better option for me. The puzzle is fun and challenging, but the main selling point are the mistic and world building of this game is really interesting. It adds an interesting twist to the puzzles, on which many of the games on the same genre failed to do so.

Very rewarding puzzle game that slowly feeds you bits of an overarching story with each case. Hard to put down once you start playing. The cases all connect, and paying close attention to character names/relationships will help immensely. Only complaint is that it is too short.

EXCELLENT puzzling. I obviously didn't want to brute force any of the solutions, so it was really fun writing notes for some of the later chapters and getting my thoughts together. But it also wasn't toooo difficult that it wasn't enjoyable. Now i'm finished, this is up there with Return of the Obra Dinn. looking forward to trying the DLCs!

Excellent storytelling. Rich Lore (Conspiracies!) Challenging but highly rewarding to figure things out. A MUST PLAY if you are a fan of detective stories and games.
