Saga & Seeker has strong character creation and customization systems that players appreciate, but the monetization model is a major dealbreaker for most reviewers. After purchasing the game, players face a token-based system requiring ongoing payments to continue playing, with no option to use their own API keys or access local hosting, creating a recurring cost structure that many find unacceptable and feel amounts to pay-to-play on top of the initial purchase.
First, the positives: The system they have got going on for character creation is quite good. Now the negatives: (To be clear, I want to like this) Monetization. If you believe in the principle that games should not become abandonware, do not buy this. Not only can you not host a local AI for this, but there is no way to play once you run out of the tokens granted at launch, beyond buying more. This is bonkers; not only will the game die once the AI's they use become obsolete and the devs cease adding compatibility to newer models; it means you have to keep paying to play; which might be illegal in some countries, as it isn't highlighted in any of their marketing. Language. The game outputs switch to Japanese. I have tried every option under the sun, and it won't change. This should be a simple fix; I genuinely can't believe how amateur this is. I pushed my way through a story using google translate, but it took a lot of the joy out of the experience.58 found this helpful
Tried this out of curiosity and as someone who fond of games where you create your whole party from scratch. First thing out of the way: The token (ink in game) system. Every prompt uses some depending on the model you choose in game (Gemini, ChatGPT, Claude and their variations). Cost ranges from 25 to 625 tokens per prompt depending on the model you choose. You start out with a few thousand free but will burn through those eventually or quickly depending on how you go about it. There's no way to hook up your own account to it if you're already paying for a service like ChatGPT. Which means you will have to pay sooner or later. You choose a character to play as and up to three others to join you in structured adventures provided or a free one where you set the scene. There are pre-created characters already in the character pool and you can create your own, complete with pages and tabs to set info on their personality, appearance, skills, backgrounds, speaking style. The selling point of this game is that it keeps track of events as they happen summarizing what's going on in the left hand side, characters reference those and remember your actions from prior adventures as eac…13 found this helpful
I did buy this, paid for it, i have an allocated amount..then id probably have to pay more to play a game ive already paid for. no free 'tier' its a weird model to work on, i cant stress enough, folks that charge to have the game then charge again , multiple times to keep playing? its just wrong on so many levels. I get it you dont want to run on a loss but come on7 found this helpful
* Once you've bought this, you get a very limited playtime and it takes an online connexion. - Whatever you write is seen in clear, so if you create a world you give it up as potential IP. - We can't use our API key, so have no agency over our own privacy, and can't get lower prices either. + The RAG organisation, the graphics, and the customisation are excellent. But does it work? Is the result anything more than chat-gpt with a strong markdown prompt that you have to resend every thirty messages? This is like playing a mobile game in the end: online connexion required and very limited playtime unless you pay to play. The new models - like Claude Fable - sure are cool, but except for bilionaires, who would never need this app since they can already have anything customized to them personally, no one but the creators can afford their price. If at least the result was perfect, outsitanding, etc. But welll, it's not quite there yet. I'm still rating it positive because it's unique and there is little to nothing to put it up against on Steam yet. So between zero and this... As a general ai-powered rpg, Roglite AI, Life of an NPC, Hidden Doors, AI Dungeon, Megan AI, Firends & …4 found this helpful
Can't play the game. Getting a connection error every few seconds on the menu and it's unable to start anything. There doesn't seem to be any fix for this.4 found this helpful
It a fun game and has Grate things if didn't have pay for the ink that like hole bunch payments think that make quick cash grab win play and pay for don't expect have pay for that to I don't think worth it.1 found this helpful
