About Level 22: Gary’s Misadventures - 2016 Edition

THE FIRST STEALTH GAME SET IN THE MERCILESS AND FRENETIC WORLD OF WORK!

Gary is an office worker who overslept after a drunken night out in town. Here's where it gets tricky, because this isn't the first time Gary's been late for work, and he could be fired if he's spotted arriving at his desk after everyone else yet again. So he’ll have to prove his smartness and slyness to make his way up the 22 floors standing between him and his office without being caught.
  • Hide in closets, crawl through air vents, slink along the walls… nobody must spot you!
  • Use everything in your reach to get to the end of the level: hide behind a newspaper, smash a vending machine with a well-aimed kick, or use donuts to lure the security guards away.
  • Want to drive your colleagues crazy, knock them out, poison them or even expose them to harmful radiation?
  • Fool photocopiers, stroll hiding in a cardboard box or distribute laxatives ... It is possible in Level 22!
  • Ready to settle the score with your bosses?

From the basement to the boss’s office via the research and development labs, explore the zany little universe of LEVEL 22.

✦ AI summary

Level 22: Gary's Misadventures features solid stealth mechanics and a stylish, unique art style that appeals to players who appreciate its comedic premise and patient puzzle-solving approach. However, the game suffers from significant technical issues including poor keyboard and mouse controls that necessitate a gamepad, lack of windowed mode, and frustratingly obtuse level design that relies heavily on trial-and-error experimentation rather than logical stealth solutions.

Level 22: Gary’s Misadventures is a comedic stealth-puzzle game created by Moving Player and published by Plug In Digital. Rather than placing players in the role of a secret agent or military infiltrator, the game takes the stealth genre in an unexpectedly humorous direction. Its premise centers on the everyday anxiety of being late to work, transforming a mundane office environment into a stealth playground filled with suspicious coworkers, patrolling security guards, and awkward workplace obstacles. By framing stealth gameplay around the relatable situation of sneaking into the office unnoticed, the game builds a comedic tone that distinguishes it from more serious stealth titles. The story revolves around Gary, an office worker who wakes up late after spending the previous night partying. Unfortunately for him, this is not the first time he has shown up late to work, and being caught arriving after everyone else could easily result in losing his job. His objective is simple but challenging: reach his desk on the twenty-second floor without anyone seeing him. The entire office building becomes a maze of surveillance and social obstacles, where coworkers, managers, and security …

I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of y…

For when you don't have enough work already and wish you could have more work. Because you like work. Stealth mechanics are solid.

It's actually pretty ok. It's just a bit tough since I'm using keyboard and mouse.

The graphics are unique and look stylish, some decent stealth ideas are here that incorporate comedy but the positives kind of end there. Technical wise this game is pretty bad, you can't go windowed or move the game to your second monitor. The PC controls are unusable, gamepad is required. Gameplay wise there are just too many gimmicks relying on trial and error to figure out to beat the levels. My last straw was when I had to cross a moving conveyer belt, I had a cardboard box on and for some reason the guards spots you. Utterly ridiculous, that is the perfect scenario to cross an area incognito but because the game wanted some dumb reaction based puzzle sequence the tactic doesn't work. You have to be really patient and be a big fan of the art style to get into this one. Would not recommend for any general audience.
