✦ AI summary

Hexcells Plus is a logic puzzle game similar to minesweeper that players find clever and satisfying to solve, with increasingly complex puzzles that require careful logical deduction and multiple constraint considerations. The main complaint centers on the mistake system, which players find tedious and forces frequent restarts, making the 100% completion grind frustrating, though the core puzzle-solving experience itself is engaging and rewarding for those patient enough to work through it.

please ignore the length of time played. I have dexterity issues, only recently got a mouse, and a crippling sense of perfectionism that goaded me into restarting every time my hand spasmed and I misclicked. it's a good game and isn't too hard, scratches a minesweeper itch I enjoy, is a nice color scheme, etc. I personally just suck

As with Hexcells OG, I wasn't a big fan of the mistake system. It just takes a fair bit of extra time to 100% the game, which was a little annoying and tedious. All the same, it is a clever and fun puzzle game. The 3hrs on review is misleading, by the way, I used a guide because I wanted to just 100% this one and move on. Like I said, the mistake system gets tedious. All the best, Novacus

I'm very late to the party but this game was both relaxing and challenging at once, which was exactly what I needed. I can only emphatically recommend this game. The puzzles get increasingly complex and make you work to solve them, especially if you're attempting to solve them without making mistakes, i.e., by properly working through the logical process of elimination, rather than guessing (you can complete each puzzle with mistakes). The solution to each puzzle is very elegant, as you must often consider the constraints imposed by two or more distant hex cells to know what a specific cell should, indeed must, be. It's so satisfying every time it clicks. It's not rocket science, but you do have to carefully think about each move. Solving even small areas within a broader puzzle can be very rewarding, let alone solving an entire puzzle. The game isn't pure challenge, either; it's very soothing at the same time. The background music is meditative and lends itself perfectly to solving these puzzles and unwinding. If you exit in the midst of completing a puzzle, your progress is automatically saved. This is ideal if you're taking breaks from work, or just want to play for a few m…

I enjoyed it - it was a good puzzle game, and really makes you work for it. Occasionally infuriating. Don't play if you like "cozy" games. Though there's no clock, no action, you *have* to use your brain pretty heavily on a lot of it, so you need to be pretty fully engaged. It's like minesweeper on steroids - with multiple types of mechanics to tell you where full cells might be, and often only the bare minimum of indicators required to find them without guessing. That means sometimes if you don't complete a puzzle "in the right order", you'll think you have to guess. And you'll make a LOT of mistakes - and you really can't afford that many mistakes as you get further into the game - which means a fair bit of starting over. So yeah, not a puzzle game for the faint of heart - but if you like making your brain work and the sense of accomplishment felt when you get it right, then this is a great game. No replay value though (unless you're going for perfectionist, and even then the replay value is minimal). But it's definitely worth it for a full playthrough - you can get quite a lot of hours of intense puzzling enjoyment out of it.

(No idea how I made it up to 90 hours in this game, I must have left it sitting open... for days...) A solid continuation of Hexcells. The ending few levels are quite brutal.
