Anvil Saga

While I very much enjoy this game there's a reason I've never finished it, and it's the giant lack of quality of life features. Everything requires you open the menu and press a specific button to make it happen, and hotkeys other than speed are non-existent. You will miss orders because your miner didn't drop off the bag of minerals before swapping tasks, and is walking at 40% speed. You will tell your units to go cook (and eat) but unless they are at the hungry threshold they will cook and leave the food there on the table, even if they're like 5% of the minimum hunger rate they will do it at automatically. This means your food will sit there and go bad because you weren't baby sitting them. What about shift clicking to queue up orders? Are you crazy? Lol, lmao even. I could write an endless list of grievances, but you need to know they exist and are plentiful before playing. Is it fun despite menu-ing and buggy hell? Yes, very much so even, but I wouldn't wish the menu-ing hell on anyone

The good parts of this game are just way overshadowed by the annoying and bad parts. Someone said it and I just can't stop thinking about it, they were right, "has almost no quality of life features". It so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ annoying! Also telling Joan of Arc that she's a girl and should just settle down and pop out a few kids is kind of offensive but the game wants you to as evidenced by the achievement "Not a Woman's Job" Where you have to instead of a sword, give her a frying pan and dissuade her from fighting. The hirelings are bugged, I finally got Lumberjack, it took my money but he never showed up after getting his dialogue so I had to buy wood. Not a huge deal but one of the worst design choices is that sometimes ♥♥♥♥ cost more and I was out of wood for the story quest and the lumberjack wouldn't come so I failed. Hard to tell employees apart, the UI is bad. I believe there are about 6 or 7 different icons for your employees but they can end up all looking the same if you go for their stats alone. So I ended up hiring 3 of the same dude with similar names and a 4th that looks exactly like the main character which was jarring. It was a lot of trouble and confusing swapping …

The most basic part of the game is bugged: the first given quest have insane timing that you cannot possibly finish it. That happens to every quest (at least in my half hour playthrough). A quest asks apprentice to make 5 items and the timer runs out before that guy arrives! I would not recommend anyone buy the game with such basic part of the game bugged. I guess I can make do without quest reward but I can only expect more game breaking bugs if the devs cannot fix the most basic thing in the game.
